Scope mounting challenge (2cm≈0.8inch space on dovetail base)

I need an ingenious solution that enables me to mount a centerpoint 4-16X44 1" scope on just 2 cm of mounting space on a dovetail base. The best solution will be "non invasive" , use off the shelf components and have minimum cost. The mounting space can be one space of 2cm or 2 spaces of 1cm with gap inbetween. The attached picture (borrowed from the internet) hints you to what I am dealing with. I can not remove the sight but I can move it along the base to create 2cm space on one side or 1cm spaces on both sides.

I can live with a solution that is sturdy enough to hold zero during just one outing where I do not bump the scope.

Borrowed rifle. I do not want to remove barrel which is required for sight removal and I do not have gunsmithing tools so options like drill and tap for base installation are also not possible. I knew even if it was possible then it would be a pretty insane type of idea. I could always go to a machinist to build me a one off mount but I was hoping I could get some ideas about a DIY solution.
