Scope for violent springer??

I have had good luck with the UTG/Leapers brand. I have had 2 problems over the last 13 yrs. of owning several. They had me send them in with paid shipping, sent me replacement units (One was simply upgraded for No charge. 4-16x56 SWAT 30mm) The 36 color illuminated reticle is goofy, but they hold up to use/abuse quite well for the price. Lets be real here, not everyone can afford to drop 4-700 bucks on an airgun scope...although I would,if my budget allows. However, the UTG stuff gets me and many others out shooting. If You look at the Field Target results You might be suprised at how many competitors are Using UTG products.

Hope this helps You!

Mike.

I had the same problem with a Gamo Magnum gas piston rifle. The recoil was so bad the windage knob on the Gamo scope would actually rotate every time I took a shot. I replaced it with a Nikon EFR recommended by AOA, and never had an issue after that. I moved into PCP's and currently have the Nikon up for sale in the classified section if you're interested.

Very highly rated sub $200 scope:

For around 80.00 on Amazon you will find the Hammers range of scopes. I have 4x the 3-9x40 AO. I got that scope for use on my Trail NP in .22. it was the third and only scope that G-D gun did not eat like popcorn. That gun went on to eat it's furniture, shearing off the bolts.

In the end, that is how i got in to pcp, so not all that angry (anymore).

59.00 is not a lot to spend on a magnum Springer scope if you can deal with 9x max zoom and SFP.

As SvilenP said. Invest in good quality scope (less extra features - better) and invest in good quality scope mount like f.example DM60 Dampa or something similar. And try to disasembly your rifle and check for what you can do to try to fix that recoil - there have to be some modes to fix that without lowering energy. I don't know what airgun you have but in most of them you can fix/lower your recoil (airguns with traditional spring not gas piston) with:
- better flattening faces of your spring
- put better fitted spring guide
- put - i'm not sure how to name it in english in Poland we commonly call it pet cover (not pet like animal but pet as pet bottle - name comes from DIY projects wher you can use plastic from pet bottle to do that).
and of course clean everything from greases and put some good quality new grease on your spring
If that will help - of course. Would that be enough? I'm not sure because I don't know your airgun.

@sfx may be referring to making a sleeve

Yup! something like that. That kind of mode was "invented" a long time ago as a prevention of grease speeling from spring into pressure chamber when you have piston with opening like that (f.eg. Slavia, Crosman and many others) :

Some airguns already have something like that already in - first one that came to mind is Ruger Air Scout (clone of Diana design). In Ruger it is made from some kind of metal.
That kind of mode works not only as anti grease spealing mode but also make spring fit snugly and tight in piston - that make airgun much less vibrating durring spring expansion.

fsx hit's on what I would first say.

Tune it. I have never seen a scope breaking springer that didnt behave after a proper tune, need'nt be tuned down just (proper). That includes the 54. Tho if you have a true magnum gas ram it will still feel violent.

SLAMMING forward normally tells you something about what's going on inside.

What rifle?

I have a crosman Phantom 1000. Pretty violent recoil. I got a BSA AR (air rifle) essentials. Has had 2 to 2500 shots tbru it and no issues so far. I dont remember what I paid (atually I ddint pay for it as I redeeemed my cabelas credit card points for it) but I dont think it was more than $80. Its nothing fancy (no mil dot or zoom) but it works. Only thing I really dispise on it is the thread lens caps. Near impossible to thread back on in the horizontal position.

Okay so I found my answer:

First off the gun is a Beeman QTGP series dual caliber blah blah, it was like 70$ at Walmart and long story short its amazingly accurate for whatever reason I don't care lol.

I have a UTG 4-16 I am going to toss on it and see how it holds the zero for a few days, and if all is well I am going to buy this > http://a.co/3ooSE52

It's all I need and should work great. Thanks guys!
