Scope for r5m edgun

I love the Stalker with 6x magnification, I am trying to match a magnifier 3x, I need to get riser for the Stalker.

I’m not a big bull pup fanatic but Erin666, that’s a sweet hunting rig for walking in brush/woods.

For original poster I WISH you’d seen Midways sale on MSRP $950.00 Bushnell Forge for $399.00 they sold out fast.

A trusted experienced member of this forum has a LNIB Bushnell Engage 4x16x44 Deploy MOA 1/4 adjustments. Hash marks are true at 16x. It’s only been on his FX Dreamlite, inch pounds torqued correctly, not a mark on it. He’s asking $225.00 + shipping. This isn’t the classifieds but I mentioned it because I know how he babies his items. It may not be what you want. 

I WISH I’d had an extra $400 as even though the Forge is bronze $399 was a steal. I don’t want FFP either so when I called Joe Wayne Rhea to ask about absolute best scopes under $500.00 He stated for what I specifically wanted, the SWFA SS, Bushnell Engage or Nitro can’t be beat. 

It would help if we knew what reticle, magnification, variable or fixed. Side focus or AO bell. Mil/mil or moa, 1/4 1/8, etc. 

Not too long or heavy under 1K is tons of options if you only want a 1x6 or fixed at your choice.

Have a look at the meopta meopro optika6 3-18. I doubt you'll get better glass or mechanics in the sub 1000 price range. Fairly heavy though.

Otherwise the sightron STAC 5-20 is another solid buy and significantly lighter. 

If small light and low/fixed mag is your thing, the sightron SIII 10x42 may be worth a look. Pricier than say optisan or swfa but amazing glass.

Plenty of other options (vortex, swfa etc) but I've got no experience with those.

What will you be doing with the rifle primarily? IMO the Stalker is very hard to beat if you are pesting 90 yards and in.

What caliber and what is your preferred ammo?

I know it sounds crazy to many, but I topped my .177 R5M with the Nightforce NX8. It is short and has very good glass with a great Mil/Mil setup. The scope tracks perfectly.



I mounted it using the Nightforce 190 mount and the scope is nice and low to the rifle.



Not cheap, but truly nice.

I swap back and forth between this and the Stalker,

I got an Athlon Midas BTR Gen2 4.5-27x50. SFP IR MOA reticle, that it’s going on my .30 cal Matador. Very nice glass and within your price range.

That’s a nice deal right there. Too late that I just got my second Stalker.

I went with a Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50 FFP MOA-MOA. Nice clear optic, clear EBR-2C reticle with Christmas tree points. Vortex high rings. Longish with the sunshade.

Athlon Midas Tac 6-24. I’m really impressed with this scope for the $$$ My gun is a r5m long

Swfa's match Edgun's durability. Like peas and carrots, imo.
