Scope for Hunter Class FT...

I put this here to "TRY" to limit discussion to actual FT use all that that means for the Hunter class.

Not a newbie to FT, Hunter class or scope stuff but I'm feeling a bit lost in my search. I generally like to put the same scope on all, or at least most, of my regularly used guns but the scope I chose for my HP .22, .25 and .30 just isn't going to work for FT or another rifle I shoot at the same distances. And there is so much more stuff around, that I here about, since I re-scoped all my rifles a few years ago.

I want the 16x marking (15x is fine) on the magnification ring, much prefer a reticle with 'fine' markings on the vertical and some holdoff marks, and something with as much as possible of the parallax rotation devoted to 10-50/60 yards. And I guess the next most important part is I hope to replace these in a year or two with what I want but it's still on the design table with a company I've been talking with, so I'm NOT looking for a 10-50 Sightron or anything in that class.

I know I'll here Athlon, and that's fine, I just have no experience with them at all.

What say you?

Yep I’m sure this will be a hot button for discussion.
Interesting you mention parallax rotation. My experience is, scopes with a higher degree of rotation from 10-55, have a better capability to discern yardages. I made a simple degree wheel and put it on several brands of scopes. Interesting the differences of arc I found in scopes.

Ive had Hawkes and Athlons. While they have proven to be great scopes for HFT, my latest brand effort has been Falcon FFP. I found them easier to set up the scope wheel and making a more accurate DOPE card.

I really want someone to try this scope so I don't buy it and get beat by my wife. yo odoyle, you ever try discovery ED? I love my hd34 but the eye relief is finicky and its heavy as balls. The ED is like 10 ounces lighter. Super clear glass and badass reticle though on the HD. Their HI series scopes are even nice. All the VT whatevers can kick rocks though. https://airgunopticsplus.com/collections/scopes/products/discovery-optics-ed-4-16x50-sf-with-extremely-low-chromatic-dispersion-first-focal-plane-rifle-scope

I haven't tried those. Couldn't justify the price and I personally like more than 4 fold magnification and that sheer $400 cost can buy 2 of the 2.5-15x50 Alpha6 that I really doubt it could beat IMHO even with Hoya glass. There's this unusual bright whiteness like Leupold bright and white that is uncharacteristic of Chinese glass which is very hard to describe unless you actually look through one for yourself. Many others who already own them know exactly what I am talking about when I say Leupold like bright white. One even compared his to all of his Swarovskys and Zeiss and you won't believe what he said. I couldn't believe it.

I own this one as well

Ranges as good as ANY scope at any price. Does have temp shift.https://www.opticsplanet.com/konus-konuspro-f30-8-32x56mm-zoom-riflescope.html?image=daeaa755d4

I also owned the S-30 Falcon is VERY good scope. ranging excellent and simple reticle B24. One step brighter than Konus F-30.I broke my S-30 they (SWFA)still warrantied it but didnt have in stock. So I opted for the Riton x3 Conquer and at first, I did not like the reticle. My scores have gotten 1-3 points better because of more precise hold points. (aim small miss small). I will be getting gen2 S-30 when they make it to the USA . They have posted on the Facebook page but it is not the website yet. 34mm tube. seems lke price point is going to be much higher than Gen I version was 450 ish.

The new Falcon X50 10x50x60 SFP has 16 marking thanks to yours truly. I have an old version that only has 12x markings. GREAT scope RANGES 1/2 yards. their wheel is pretty nice also. I would suggest Get Long-range version if it still focuses to 10 yards. The reason is my FT version is DONE at 100yds. So if you are going to POSSIBLY in the future use for something other than FT. I would opt for the long-range version. I am pretty sure it also focuses to 10 yards. comes with a Harris wheel. for 999.00. See if BEN10 code is still valid. it saved my buddy the cost of the wheel.

In the last year I have purchased four scopes with plans to use in FT. All of them range in price from $165 to $400. So far the one I like the best is the UTG AccuShot 4-16x56 30mm tube. It has about everything you are looking for. The one I received has very good optics. Mildots and IR and ranges very good . Priced $200 to $250 depending where you purchase it. I tried the Alpha 6 recommended by Yo and now as I now understand goes by Odule. It is also a keeper but I perfer the Accushot fot HFT. The glass was very good and windage / elevation turrets are good. The side parallax is tight but I will say the distance marks on the factory wheel were spot on out to 40 yards. For field target the factory marks on the magnification nob went from 4.5x -27x 50. The power sequence for the hunter class went from 13x to 17x (skipping 14-16) so by the Hunter rules you would have to set in on 13x which would put you at a disadvantage with others using 16x in that class. I tried the Athlon 2 BTR 6-24 x50 and that also was a well built scope very similar to the Alpha 6 but didn't seem to range quite as well as the other two. The last scope was a Discovery 4-20x50 FF that came in at the bottom but it was much closer to the $200 range than the Athlon which was in the $400 range . I think I recall paying around the least for the Alpha 6 which makes it a very good deal. I own 2 Sightrons and a Big Nikko. I think that Accushot in the power range I use it in is a heck of a deal. JMHO!
