Michael's post above sums it up very well. In regards to cost, get what you can afford. If this will be your only airgun, then why not have the best optic for it in your price range. If you own multiple airguns, it gets tricky. Mounting the best scope on your best long-range gun. Having multiple scopes of the same brand/model on different guns. Selecting the right optic for a purpose-driven airgun. Wanting to try different brands and models until you find the right one can also be daunting.
