SCBA tank valves

Yes there are several. Air Venturi provides the Jubilee valve (orifice in it for slow fill) and JoeB sells his versions as well.

A third option is Ninja's new fill assembly but it currently needs an adapter to fit the standard size SCBA Tanks. Rumor is that a version for direct installation in the Scott style SCBA tanks is in the works! Personally I love the Ninja since it has an orifice and the valve self bleeds the line when closed making one handed operation easy.

All of these will set you back $175 or more new.

I’ve never had any issues with using the CGA 347 valve to control fills. Keep your hand on the handwheel, and crack it open and shut repeatedly until you get a good feel for the fill rate. It’s pretty easy and safe with proper caution. 

I agree CC but in my early days of PCP shooting I was paranoid because of certain Videos that certain sellers of other equipment posted.

There are also those who say you can't fill a gun from an unregulated 6K N2 tank but it is not difficult when proper attention is maintained throughout the fill process (as brief as it might be).

Agree with mike - pretty simple feathering the valve on the CGA 347.

I like the Drager valves they seem to be the smoothest.

Agreed! I have a 60 min Drager and love the valve.. very smooth. I also have a Scott 30 min and the valve has a “ like stop” steps in it. I agree it’s either on or off. No real in between. I think I will pick up a used a Drager valve. Thanks for the link. 

Agree with T3p et al. personally never had an issue, but.

Not all valves are the same and you can find a rare TOO fast exception. My first scub tank had a valve that opened SO fast on a clock if you started at 12:00 it would be fully opened at 3 minutes past, got used to it then got another and found mine was the fastest anyone had ever seen. Other than a rare exception no worries/issues ( used that tank for years w/out issue).

Currently have a "scott" pack and after tightening the little nut in center of control knob - eliminates the push in to turn thing- and find it very easy to use. I try filling at 50-100psi second to prevent heat & it works fine.

I read that on the internet and have only tried it on mine. Yes just tightening the nut in the center made it so there was no longer a push to turn feature, just turn.

No idea on dragger but the only dragger ( blue colorered) you did not need to push in to turn the valve.

you can try to remove the spring from under the handle this makes

it much more predictable and easer to use without replacing the valve .
