scba question

On both of my SCBA set-ups I have two more valves, a gauge in between these two valve and a inline bleeder down stream of these just before the hose. I normally connect the gun, open the SCBA valve, close the bleeder, open the furthest downstream valve all the way and use the first valve as the fill control valve and monitor the fill pressure with the gauge between the two valves. I trust the larger easier to see gauge more than the guns gauge and I can control the flow very easily with this flow control valve. You can, and I have used the SCBA valve but like you said it's pretty easy to crack it just a little too far.

Many of us use the SCBA tanks without any kind of restricting valves between the gun and the tank. The secret is to barely crack open the SCBA valve until you see the gauge needle begin to SLOWLY move. The knob on the tank will turn through a partial turn prior to air actually coming out of the tank. The needle will stop when the tank and airgun equalize. At that point, gently open the SCBA valve a little more until the needle moves again up to your desired fill pressure. By barely opening the SCBA valve, if you miss the point where the tank and gun equalize, you still have control of the fill speed up to your selected fill pressure. Never try to fill your gun fast and NEVER take your hand off of the SCBA valve knob. Pay attention to what you are doing and don't talk to others while filling your gun and you should never have any trouble. Practice opening the SCBA valve without any gun connected to the tank. Yes, some air will be wasted as it begins to hiss as it leaves the tank, but you can then learn how to handle the valve and keep control of the air being released.

I use my scba tank to fill the airventui 90 cu inch bottle that is on my back pack and leave the big tank in the car. The airventuri tank has built in reg set at 2900 psi and is handy for topping off the guns.

I know it seems cumbersome but this way i wont over fill a rifle accidentally. I recently tethered my little bottle to my condor ss while at the range. This setup worked very well.

Or you can buy a Jubilee Valve which has a built in restrictor. Another alternative is replace the output female foster connector with one that has a restrictor from Best Fittings.

Do you have a link to these? I am in the same spot but have not even filled my scba tank. Haveing a Texan SS now I need more air on hand when shooting.
