Buy on Amazon ... Maybe not.

yeah i dont see any scam about it ... this ruse has been used on ebay for years especially with shipping .. its your fault if you dont read and pay for it lol ...

You are right. I could have worded it better (so I did). I think of a scam as something which takes advantage of the buyer even if he isn't paying close attention. It's just a perception thing. Clearly it is not a scam if someone tells you what you are going to pay and then you agree to pay it. The truth here really is that if it isn't someone playing a game on the buyer with shipping costs (and it looks like it isn't) then one could buy a hundred tins from the guy one at a time and take the free shipping option and win big.

So yeah my bad, not a scam an opportunity to take advantage of a marketers mistake. So I went back and looked for it... Gone.

Maybe not such a good buying opportunity...

Amazon devices will soon automatically share your Internet with neighbors
Amazon's experiment wireless mesh networking turns users into guinea pigs.
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/05/amazon-devices-will-soon-automatically-share-your-internet-with-neighbors/

If you use Alexa, Echo, or any other Amazon device, you have only 10 days to opt out of an experiment that leaves your personal privacy and security hanging in the balance.
On June 8, the merchant, Web host, and entertainment behemoth will automatically enroll the devices in Amazon Sidewalk. The new wireless mesh service will share a small slice of your Internet bandwidth with nearby neighbors who don’t have connectivity and help you to their bandwidth when you don’t have a connection.

Largest botnet in history!
Open your network up to any sidewalk device?
What could possibly go wrong?

So I'm traveling next week and my neighbor gives me an audiobook on CD's (9 CD's). I don't wish to carry all that and a friend suggests an MP3 player. I find a highly-rated MP3 player on Amazon-says it is in stock. I am not a Prime member and won't be, but if I order the item today (May 27th) and pay $6 shipping, I will have the item on June 1st. I agree to the $6 and place the order. Well, it is June 1st and the item hasn't shipped. I don't order much from Amazon, but a long delay in shipping seems to be the norm. It seems like if one doesn't drink the Kool-Aid (Prime), that one has no sway as a customer. Or are Prime members experiencing this too? I will be happily returning this item when I return from my trip and I hope they lose a bunch of money on it thru their efforts.

Generally, Amazon is a LAST resort for me; I usually order from them only if I can't find it elsewhere after a reasonable search. After hearing how they treat small businesses who use their platform, I prefer to do business anywhere else. And then there is the question of what they do with our data...

Sounds like what they did to me. I ordered some airgun stuff on the 19th and again on the 20th of May. It was supposed to be delivered on the 25th. It wasn't. I tried to cancel my orders and they refused to cancel them. I got an email this morning and they claim some of it will be delivered next week and the rest the week after that.

What they are doing constitutes fraud. I'm going to report this to the Attorney General in Texas. You might want to think about reporting them to the AG in your state. Might not be a bad idea to get the FTC involved too.

Amazon Prime is a joke at this time.

There are several Amazon price tracking sites out there. I use Camelcamelcamel.com. It is not perfect, but it does let you know the high and low price on Amazon for a particular product. Also, Amazon may show you one price when you aren't logged in and/or don't have cookies set. Then, when you are logged in or allow persistent cookies, it will show you another price. Not always better, not always worse.

Just like everything, know the market value/price of any item you are interested in and shop around! Heck, Sam's club is owned by Walmart and is touted as a "discount" club. however, many times I have found the same item at a lower price at Walmart than Sam's.

I am not a member of Sam's, but my mother is...

I got censored and silenced from Amazon for simply asking in the questions ‘is this made in China?’

Banned since, and we were spending over $70,000 a year with Amazon (I’ve a company)

Also, you have to be careful, ‘free shipping’ and yet if you check the real price elsewhere it’s much less, sometimes Amazon is 3 times the price

But I’m not a fan of censorship or gagging people. We should have a right to know where a product is made, and it seems 90% or more of what Amazon sells comes from China

I did a review on a book Amazon sells awhile back. It was a negative review since the book was crap. The author of the book had the negative review removed. Hows that for censorship? A lot of Amazons reviews (maybe most of them, maybe even all of them) are fake reviews. I use camelcamelcamel to check Amazons prices versus other vendors. You're right. A lot of the time ....whatever... can be found cheaper elsewhere.
