hi guys i would recommend something with maximum range of 3 or 5g, that is that your pellets will be closer to the middle of the calibrated range.

when you get one delivered, measure the same pellet 5x -10x times to give you an idea about uncertainty of measurement.
also use plastic tweezers, do not touch the pellet with bare fingers so you dont leave grease etc behind

there is a good chance you have to keep returning the scales until you find a decent piece.

Good point Sirk to get a scale with a range closer to the weight of the pellet, but I'm having a hard time finding one that measures accurately down to a 0.001 gr. Keeping in mind there are 15.43grains (gr) to 1 gram(g). 5grams would be approx 77gr. Since the mfg of the pellets usually advertise their pellets down to the .01gr, I'm thinking I need a scale that can measure to at least .005gr to get an accurate sort of pellets. Any thoughts? Guess I am going to be watching some pellet weighing videos to try to see how the experts are doing it.....Anybody got Teds phone number? I'm sure he's not busy doing anything these days. EBR around the corner and all. lol.

this one is half of your range at 10g max

basically when you sort pellets, just make 3 heaps, light-medium-too heavy so you can use all. sort only one tin at a time. dont try to sort/mix more than one tin of pellets.

all you want to avoid shooting too light in a group of heavies or opposite: to have a heavy one in a group of lights
good luck

edit: really precise 'laboratory balances' are very expensive and the type you would really need is where you have to close the door on the glass cabinet to take a reading.
but there is no need for that, try the 10gram model, works even for .177 pellets -tested successfully. it is good enough for this job

"davemac18"Anyone have any experience with this scale ? looking to see it how it holds up and accuracy?

Davemac18 I've been using this same scale for about three years. It does a great job. One thing I always do though is keep a real light or a real heavy pellet off to the side and after
20-30 pellets I double check and make sure that pellet is still weighing the same. So far so good..
