Satisfying day with ground squirrels

Went to my buddy’s place where the squirrels are stirring. He lives off the main road and all his neighbors love us since we started last spring when he got me into this madness. I dropped two at 40 yards, the second one was coming to check on his dead friend. We collect them when we can and drop them off at a bird sanctuary. These two obliged in a nice, neat little pile. But the highlight of the day is when we opened up to the pasture behind his house. I recorded two personal bests. My fist was a kill at 123 yards. We had shot out the nearby squirrels but some in the far hill were playing as if to taunt us. I bested my best with a spectacular kill at 140 yards. Now the kill itself was exhilarating, but the critter danced and then rolled down the hill like “Princess Bride”! Best part of my tall tale is that it was witnessed. Maybe because I was yelling “He’s still rolling!” I’m probably not the best hunting partner...

Here’s the two buddies...

If you look down the hole, you can see the other one
