sam jang 50 caliber

Allow me to explain how to tune it yourself.

1) Charge it to recommended charge pressure.

2) Record the velocity of 5 shots to observe the velocity direction from first to last shot. You want the first shot to be 30-50 FPS slower than the second shot.

3) If the first shot is not slower than the second, increase fill pressure by 100 PSI and repeat until that's what you get; but only up to as much as 10% above factory recommended charge pressure..

4) Once you find the pressure at which the first shot is 30-50 FPS slower than the second shot, she's tuned for 3 shots.

5) Report results here.

Shoot it stock like AirNGasman said. If you sent it to Will Piatt for a power tune you will have the cost of an AirForce Texan wrapped up in it, and the Texan will still make more power. The Sam Yang is a 50 yard pig/deer gun out of the box.

I think Southern Gunner did a tuning video on youtube for both the 9mm and 45 Sam Yangs. I watched them when I first got mine and decided it looked like too much trouble. Basically he just drilled out the transfer port, but disassembly looked to be a challenge.

"I think for shot count ,cost and durability the bulldog is hard to beat. It's not a long rang gun but 50-70yrds its great. Power wise the texan is on top."

Ummmmm... maybe I'm missing something here, but how does that relate to tuning a .50 Sam Yang? I saw nothing to suggest the OP was looking for recommendations for a different rifle than his. I'm confused.

This design still has the 2 power stage cocking right? How does low suit you? Or they did away with that feature?

Any tune for power or efficiency might well benefit from opening the air flow and installing a better valve stem, easy to work on. (Again maybe they've changed?) Slot the sides of the valve and find the hammer spring which suits your needs. If wanting really LOW power you will need to choke the transfer port.

Slightly different model but pretty close probably.
