Is there a lubricant used in air cylinders that is potentially harmful if you happen to get a whiff of it when you de-gas and open the cylinder?

Opened a cylinder this evening on a Brocock Grand Prix and something in that cylinder has made me short winded, I think.

I should add that I am not sure the issue was caused by what I smelled coming from that cylinder. I have never had that gun apart until today but the previous owner probably did so ... anyway, thoughts?

Silicone grease is ok to use for hpa. It helps keep the o rings lubricate.

If it wasn't the air from your cylinder, you should probably go to ER and get an EKG done. Just to be safe.

Contact Brocock. See what they use when they do pressure tests and assembly. Or the manual might have a list of warnings and hazards. If it's anything that bad, they would be required to list them.

Been working with tanks of different sorts for years doing hydrotesting. Never came across any "lubricants" inside the tanks. Almost sounds to me like there might have been CO2 in there. Do you know if previous owner ever tried carbon dioxide in there?

Gentlemen, thanks for taking the time to entertain the question. I suspect something else in the environment at this point and really appreciate the expertise that AGN has available in this forum.

No worries, I'll figure it out. I just needed the reassurance that I was indeed barking up the wrong tree.
