Just bought a like new RWS 34 Classic T06 in .177 cal. Wanted something lighter to shoot than my Sig ASP20. 22cal. Need some input on pellets for this rifle. Also, what kind of velocity should I expect with these pellets. I know the rating on these are 1000 fps. I have a UTG 3-9X40 Hunter scope that probably will be used. I read some review where a person was having an issue mounting this same scope using the one piece RWS anti droop mount. I know there are dovetail to picatinny mounts but I don't want to go that route. Any suggestions on mounts that compensate for droop and won't wander ? I'll show some pics when I get it.

No, I don't think it compensates for droop (far as I know), sorry. Guess I never had a problem with droop. What I like about this mount is that it clamps on really tight, It will not move on you one bit. I like the height it provides as well. Can allow for more forward or backwards placement of the scope as well. Pretty sure I am using medium hight rings.

GoldenStateAIR,

First off congratulations on the D34. It's a great rifle and I think you'll really enjoy it. My 34 is .22 so I can't help you with a pellet selection. But I can strongly recommend a really solid droop compensating mount for your 34. Which you will need. I have a BKL one piece mount on both of my 34's. They are rock solid and have a .007 droop compensation which is perfect for your rifle. I bought mine through PA and the part # I believe is BKL-260D7-MB. They will mount to your dovetail and will NOT move. I have used and am currently using these mounts.....they are great. I have a Vortek 4-12x40 on my 34 classic using this base. Hope you enjoy it..........

Here is a pic for you of the 34 with the BKL mount.

The 34 is a good rifle. It has a good barrel and trigger. Yes you will need droop compensated mounts or base. It have used the UTG droop base on a 34 and it was fine. Buy. UTG scope and it will most likely come with Weaver rings that will fit the base.

I wish I still had the UTG rings. Included them with a Hawke scope I sold.

Thanks for the input. I just bought a tin of the JSB 8.44 gr with the 4.52mm head.

I have a 34 and a 34P .177, both are T06 with a 2017 date stamped. NEITHER have droop, both love any pellet with a tight fit and hard lead. Loose fit, soft lead, no likey.

That's good to know Mike ! Mine also is stamped T06 2017 as well. I've decided to just go with some Medium UTG 1" rings. The Leapers scope I removed from my Sig was dialed in at 10M so POI should be fairly close when I mount it on the M34. After mounting, if I'm shooting 5 inches low at 10M then droop might be an issue. I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I'm confident that droop won't be an issue. So I'm all set ! Have the 3-9x40 UTG Hunter scope and rings. Got the JSB 8.44 gr (4.52mm head) pellets. Got the RWS spring and chamber lube. Got my old Beeman one piece SS .177 cleaning rod and jags and patches. I'm set !! Have you had any issues with your dovetail rail screws coming loose Mike ? I'm going to check mine before the scope goes on. If they are loose it's nothing that Loctite 262 or 272 won't cure.

I have a Wheelers Fat wrench and use blue loctite. Start with CPLs seated just a tad farther than you can get with your thumb.

I know the rating on these are 1000 fps.

Don't ever expect to get the same velocity as advertised when using high quality popular weight pellets. It is a shame that even the top notch air gun manufactures rely on advertising these speeds that can only be achieved using a very light weight pellet almost under selected gun conditions apparently to appeal to the power happy among us.

If you pull in the 850 FPS region (plus or minus some) with pellets between 8 and 10 grain you are in the sweet spot of pellet speed for accuracy purposes.
