RTI the priest lethal issues

If there’s any one who could help or support would be great just bought 2 rti the priest since 4 months that were shooting outstanding very accurate at long distances and are easily maintained until 1 month ago I cocked one of them and left it on a table (directed to a high angle I.e. mounts are attached) within a minute... boom it self fired !!! What the hell !!?!? So I tried experimenting it several times and it went off again (that wasn’t the first time as I solved it but seems temporarily via trigger adjustment) as I sent to RTI by mail a lot of times they seemed unserious! Considering that it’s a FATAL mistake meanwhile some mates in Egypt had same problem of self firing and decocking (one of them was injured) though they showed irrespectivly almost no response so I had to disassemble the gun and find where the problem is I found 3 main issues fisrt the side plate is directly attached to the fire mechanism so if u gripped the gun while coked it will fire ! And the hammed after a while is dented right side that will Decoke the gun and finally as per attached pic the fire mechanism is filed by time (the part responsible for keeping the gun coked )

Seems that RTI repaired the fatal mechanism to abetter one while disregarded old users !

I have both the old and new version. Yes, if you screw with the old style trigger enough it will become unsafe. I haven’t got to mess with the newer version much, but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s a totally different design and much more adjustable. If it is set too light it simply won’t cock. As far as the company goes, they’ve been more than willing to work with me and helped in any way that they could to get my rifle set up.

I contacted Rob at RTI today and his response was:

"Anyhow, we have changed the hammers to all the old Priests out there (sent them to all the dealers) with the new hammer design from the Priest II. The only part we did not yet covered is the middle east because of some delays with our dealer over there."

I have always found RTI ( unlike many other airgun companies) very responsive to any communications and they have always been helpful. If there is a problem they resolve it quickly.

Yep, that’s the same response I got from him. They’ve always returned my emails within a day or so and always been helpful and willing to share info with me. I’ve bought parts from them for my rifle and it’s pretty much a painless operation.

Also, let’s not leave cocked and loaded guns laying around, whether it’s pointed in a safe direction or not. Common sense here guys.

I got both of them,

the first one over a year, when set to hairy, a shot can go of, especially when you yank the bolt and let it fly.... leave the trigger as a hunting trigger (then it is still light and crisp)

but i have had no issues, and i've shot 15.000 pellets, and then some..

got my second one, the Priest 2 3 weeks ago, and this is even better.. the service and help from RTI is second to none!!!!
