RTI Prophet Slug specific Barrel. Group buy?

Never heard of them alafa, I bought a 177 pellet 20 inch barrel direct from RTI , I am pretty sure its a L, W barrel, Not sure of the twist rate,, I installed it and made no change to the gun,,, I was shooting a JSB 10.3 gr pellet at 1190 and 1200 FPS I shot a whole magazine at 49 yards no flyers and a dime size group, Regulator is at 130 and I turned the spring out a couple turns to about 960 FPS,, I have a few 177 slugs but for right now I do not have the range for them, 100 + yards should be minimum for slugs...

We get 50 barrel buyers and I will decide the caliber.

Be a good reason to buy a compact, And having a slug gun better than having a pellet gun shooting slugs...

Be nice to let me know the cost in this group buy,,, PR me if you have to..

Mike

Thats a nice group with the Jsb .177 knockouts... 85 USD for their standard blanks. Hoping we could get a bulk discount perhaps. Slugs would be interesting in medium to heavy range. Probably 20 - 25gr in .177 and 30 - 40gr in .22

Been thinking about heavy .177 slugs for a while. They should have a higher BC than .22 and more wind resistance.

A 25gr .177 at 1050fps would yield 60ft/lb. Mostly guesswork from there because no one has done it.

Why not just go with the .172 caliber rather than .177? No custom barrel needed, just order a barrel from TJ’s or even Brownells has a liner for real cheap. That would also allow you to size down the .005” . Both TJ and Brownells lost their barrels in the 1:9 twist needed for long heavy bullets.

I've contacted TJ's and Lilja. TJ's had no reply yet, unfortunately. Carson gave some good advice. I was thinking of sizing the barrel up to .177 and did not consider sizing the slugs down which might be a solution there... Read over at GTA this has been done but there is limited information on success. Most 22lr barrels will have an adequate twist also.

For the Leshiy 2 I have a 1:12 .177 6grove on order from a machinist in Russia and that will be a good benchmark. Pretty affordable but how it shoots we'll have to see. And the standard blanks from AP also on order.

The Redmans liner at 50 bucks... But then requires a carbon fiber outer liner or 2
17 Caliber Rimfire Liner specifications
Outside Diameter – 5/16″ (.311″ – .312″)
Length – Approximately 27″
Groove Diameter – .172″, 1-9″ twist
.17 caliber liners to be used only for the .17 Mach 2

Might be worth looking at if not the Alfa precision Barrels
