RTI Priest: Stock probe vs Hollow probe

I have put hollow probes in various guns and various calibers. Some it helped, some it hurt. With all this confinement I decided to make a hollow probe for my Priest. It’s a .25 and both probes shoot JSB 25’s 970-973fps. With the hollow probe I lost 10fps with slugs. Didn’t check accuracy because it’s too windy out.

SO vetmx

Did you have to do anything to your Priest to get 970 FPS out of your 25 caliber? I guess your shooting the 28gr JSB right?

I am chewing at the bit I am waiting for the release of the prophet in 25 caliber, Any day now, or a month after the 22 release so I have been told.

I fought the pull of the Impact for a few years now, I hope the Prophet cures it,........

I just used the JSB 25gr pellets for this test because I have a good many of them. They are not accurate at that speed. I have a larger plenum, 150b reg setting and a TJ barrel. The gun is strictly a slug gun but when I back the speed down is is crazy accurate with pellets with the slug barrel. It will match the CZ barrel that came with the gun. It’s a good simple platform and I enjoy it. I don’t miss my Impact at all.

I just shot some groups at 50yrds with the hollow probe. No good with slugs. Switched back to RTI probe and laid a bird out flat at 114yrds with a 34gr slug. My hat is off to RTI. I have tried quite a few things to improve on what they offer right out of the box. I can’t make the gun better. I haven’t investigated the valve yet and I probably won’t. Unless Goxy convinces me otherwise. Once you get a dialed in regulator on the gun, it’s a simple shooting machine.

I love mine even though it’s a combination of the I and II. It just seems to keep working trouble free. I don’t know how many pellets I’ve put through it, but there’s been a lot of happy cats around my place since I bought it. I’ve also tried a few things to improve some of the performance, but I can’t seem to improve it. I’m glad you tried the hollow probe. I had been wondering about that for a while. Most curious about if it would seat the shorter, lighter slugs a little straighter and improve accuracy out of the magazine. Thanks for doing it before I did.

Mine was shipped on March 27th. Hopefully some day it gets here.

Got my sidelever kit today! Improved the cocking feel alot with a much smoother operation and a more clear/responsive feel once closed. Definitely an upgrade worth doing.

Lucky you. I am still waiting. Its been one month now. Working on other projects right now. I actually have no issues with the direct cocking on my Priest. My dad, who is 78, has trouble. I take it to my camp and on our down time we shoot. The new cocking system should relieve me of having to supervise him. My dad shot a walnut off a railroad trestle at 168yrds with a 25gr pellet out of my gun. He loves it but not a fan of cocking it. For now.

VETMX, Let me suggest something useful

When you make the probes or even the hollow probes...you want to make sure you shorten the probe itself so that the pellet just barely seats passed the barrel port. this way you can retain more pressure during the shot and the FPS with it.

Since the hollow probe takes up more space than the pin probe. and seating the pellet just as long as the pin prove will suffer due to pressure loss... TRY it

Wow, the Priest/Prophet sounds like a cool trouble free gun, Never owned a bottle gun so I convinced myself I needed another 25 caliber to go with my 25 Veteran,

My first Cricket took 6 months of waiting, Been waiting on the Prophet 4 months , I got to were I do not even ask for any updates , They just all say SOON.. LOL.

Keep the post up guys gives me something to read and gets my hopes up.
