RTI Priest - Prophet - adjust power?

Silly question for the folks familiar with the RTI Priest 2.

- On their website, it says that rifle (I assume in 177 and 22) can be obtained in 7J, 16J, 20J or 24J

How easy (or hard) would it be to change a rifle from 16J (for summer plinking outdoor) to a 7J indoor friendly power level?

Tks,

Mike

Hi Mike it will depend on what version you purchase. They have the standard version where you would need to degas the bottle and adjust the washers in the regulator which you will need a tool to measure the pressure so you don't hurt yourself or damage your gun. I had the performance version where you can externally adjust the regulator and not have to degas the gun. I made a boo boo and sold it in anticipation of the prophet which I came to find out they make an aftermarket side cocking lever for the priest series. I would recommend the gun it is solid, shoots lights out, light weight and very comfortable to carry in the field. I am currently waiting for the prophet to be available.

Well folks, RTI just won the "Fastest reply to an inquiry" award!

- Sent them an email earlier, and here's their reply... in case anyone else is wondering how to go about changing the velocity on their rifle

From Mr. Rob

What we do is we insert a brass grub screw under the barrel where the transfer port is. There should be a thread there for this purpose.

We usually put a grub screw in .177 by default in the rifle in full power versions. So if the grub screw is there, you should remove it and put in a new one which has a smaller hole.

So you need to get a grub screw and drill a hole in. Start small, 1mm in diameter and go slowly upwards with diameter while checking the velocity on chrony.

Sounds simple enough 👍
