Royale .22 reg pressure

"Menttaliist"Shooting consistent at 875 and it didn't come with the reg
Did the gun shoot above 875 before you installed the regulator? I believe they are set from the factory at 140bar. Last time I shot mine it was shooting at 914 FPS with JSB 18s.
If I recall, this gun you have was not bought in America right? When Mubhaur suggested the valve kit, the Royale came with a couple different valve configurations. I ran across this when I ordered parts once. You can turn in the hammer spring to possible squeeze out a little more speed.

Like you can see in that thread, i bought mine in Sweden and Hurricane installed a reg for me, so i don't know de velocities before it was installed. The rifle it's exactly the same as a full power one, i changed the valve spring, valve support and shaft on the power weel because it was a 10j version. Now i got the same gun as a full power version from factory with a reg working at 140bar. Just loosing my mind regarding the velocities as some people claim more velocities with the same or even lowers reg pressures. I can't max out hst as if i do, i start to loose fps and increase the ES :/

Weatherby,
When my Royal 400 .22 came New, it was unregulated. It gave maximum 870fps with18 grain jsb.

Then I installed regulator but the fps further dropped.

Then I installed bigger valve , valve seat anand TP on advice of FX.

Now I get 925 fps at 142 bars reg pressure using same jsb 18 grain pellets.

I did not increase hammer weight at all.

It can be used indeed, but AFAIK, a stock regulated .22 R400 has got the regular valve, and not the SHP.
Did I understood correctly that your setup does not make use of a hammer weight?
I had my R400 (now sold) shooting at 47 joule with stock valve and regulator. But I had a hammer weight installed, and the HS adjuster was only barely turned in. (About 2mm if I recall)
Reg. was set at 140 bar, but eventually I lowered it to 132 bar to have it shooting at around 42 joule.

Again, the speed of a Royale (and any other FX rifle) will drop significantly when overtightening the HS adjuster screw, one should keep that in mind. A maxed out HS nut in a FX rifle is recipe for disaster as it is only a small step away from damaging the valve guide hole in the action. A couple of shots at too low pressure and you're done.

"Menttaliist"Hey Gijs, the hammer weight you're talking about is the same as the one in the r500 or is it lighter? Thaks as always
p.s. i have to spread out some +1 before i can give you more, but i owe you like +5 for the numerous times you have helped me :)
Hi Manuel, funny thing is FX has been using different weights as hammer weight over the years.
The most recent R400/R500's have the same weight, while the Boss hammer weight is a bit heavier.
If I remember correctly, the "old" hammer weight from the R400/R500 was the same as the current one for the Boss, but don't shoot me if it isn't :)
Boss has always been using the same hammer weight.
FX has a tendency to continously improve/change parts over the years, there is no real structure in it.

I put a Huma reg in my Royale 400. I'm not sure I trust the tape scale of pressure, but it's set at 150. It was shooting a little over 870 at a 140 setting with the JSB 18, and that was as fast as I could get it with spring adjustment. I bumped it to 150, and the same spring setting gave me over 890, That's a little faster than I wanted, so I backed the hammer spring down a little to 880, which I have found to be good in all my .22 rifles. I haven't done a complete chrono run to determine if that 150 bar setting is accurate, and I have my doubts. But, the speed is where I want it, and consistency is good, so I'm done.
