Ridiculous Hunting Laws in UK

Look into Brussels and the whole EU agenda, it's enough to make me puke. The Brits have more tolerance and no fire power. In 92 when the EU was formed I believe it was eleven countries and they comprised about thirty percent of the worlds wealth, fast forward it's 30 something countries and a little better than ten percent of the worlds wealth. How's that Brexit coming?

This has been a fiasco for the past few weeks, a tv celebrity threatened legal action over the general license that controls the hunting of 16 birds on the list. The government withdrew the general license because they would have lost the legal case due to a loophole in the wording of the license.

They are rushing through measures that allow the shooting of pest birds but these are being done species by species until a new loophole free general license is issued. So far only corvids and wood pigeons are the only birds to be covered in the new measures but even then it seems to be an unworkable document.

lets hope it gets sorted soon.

It’s a total joke ... especially as I have a Red Wolf and some slugs 😀 and can’t use them as such ! I’m sure it will get sorted soon , it can’t carry on like this , the farmers are going mad let me tell you . My Father in law is a farmer and now can’t shoot pigeons , he has to try and scare them , other than running around a field with a picture of my X Wife ( now that’s scary ) he can’t do much else ? It’s a joke !

Why read and reply if that’s the case?

Because it is like trying to stop the flood after the dam broke. Just like here in California. The people in Sacramento pass laws without thinking of what the 33 million residents might think. Of course those residents just accept the restrictions instead of removing the offending public servants and then changing the laws back.

So is better to do nothing and not being interested? ;)

Is not about stopping the flood, is about creating conscience and learn from bad experiences from other countries (knowledge in my books is always good ... that is how we get better). For most "city" people, killing animals (any) is wrong, they usually forget about the rural world and farmers (where "city food" actually comes from).

In my case, I did not know that crows can kill newborns before they touch the ground! was a total surprise...so I CARE.

In the county I live in in NY state hunting is also heavily restricted except for shotguns in most areas. Back in the 1990’s we had a a starling invasion where hundreds of thousands would roost in local parks and by morning the droppings was deep enough where a blind man could track a bear. Fortunately it was late fall where the temperature would drop below freezing at night the county used crop dusting planes to spray the starlings with a detergent solution. The detergent dissolved the oils in their feathers which is needed to insulate them and by morning they froze to death. This was done over a few seasons and it solved the problem. I remember How the sky was black when they were coming in to roost. Perhaps something like this could be done in Great Britain.

I have shared with ya'll that I raise deer Axis and Sika I lose at a min 10 to 12 babys and yearlings every season. I have even had full grown deer taken out by bobcats. I run traps all spring and fall to keep them in check but still lose 10 to 12 a year. We are allowed to protect our livestock here thank God but goes to show what happens if predators are not kept in check.
