No. I don't use it all the time. After the leaves fall, I don't use it as much. My binoculars work better to spot tails hiding be hind trees. They use solid wood to hide when there is no leaves. 

In early fall (with leaves) they sit quite/still and watch more. They are harder to spot through leaves with binoculars, but a sliver of heat can narrow your search area down quick.
