Retuning RAW HM1000X it's too loud

I just ended up installing a .22 barrel on my HM1000x 60 fpe gun.

Gun is too much loud. I reduced the HST but it's still loud. I reduced TP hole but the gun still barks.

It must be wasting air.

The reg is set at around 145 bars.

What should I do to eliminate the barking but to achieve similar power that is right now around 50 fpe?

Do you have a smartphone?

Download one of the soundmeter apps and test three feet to the side and one foot back from the muzzle...

then test another air rifle that you feel the sound is OK level to compare it to.

Numbers help even if not totally accurate and will allow other owners to check against their guns to help identify your problem, if there is one.

Sir it is louder than when it was .25 and running at 60fpe

Umair,

Part of me wonders if you aren’t leaking somewhere in your interface between the thimble and the barrel, thus bleeding off air up near the breech? Can you tell if all the noise is coming from the muzzle end (only) or if there is noise from the near the breach end? Maybe (carefully) stand to the side of the gun, midway between the two locations and (with the gun safely aimed at a target) pull the trigger to see if you hear any discharge noise from the breach end.

Just something to investigate. When you shoulder is on the stock, all the noise is in front of you so it may be hard to tell during normal shooting.

I was thinking the same. Maybe place a piece of tissue paper over the bolt and shoot it. If there is a leak at the probe, the paper will jump. That will at least eliminate that issue.

When you swapped the barrels, I was thinking it might possibly be that you don't have the probe depth set correctly. ???? That would make the report a lot louder.

i purchased also a polygon barrel for my .25 HM1000X.... my reg is also at 145 bar... with the old barrel it waas shooting 940 fps with 25.4 gr jsb´s quiet as a cricket.22 shooting 30fpe.... i only changed the barrel, made no adjustments... and now its shooting the kings heavies 33.95gr at 875fps but its VERY LOUD!!!.....i had to swap moderators.... put my old barrel moderator to my new barrel and know its quiet as it was.... so i purchased a $500+ barrel with no baffles... thats ridiculous!!!!

I would contact Martin about that finding...

Dear Sean,

I just tried to seal all contact points even with more interest. The results are better. The puff from the breach is so light that it moves the tissue paper just a bit. No noise from there.

At 970 fps with the twisted TP and minimum HST, I am getting better sound now.

its around 66DB. pic attached.

This 66db is outdoor in my garage shot with the 18 grain pellet at 970 fps. The earlier DB of 79 is under the roof of the garage.

The reg is still at factory setting like around 150 bars.

I have also wrote to RAW as well as Kenhicks for support but I did not receive any input yet.

At 970 fps with 18 grain the gun is extremely accurate up to 90 yards as I checked. At same setting the 25 grain flies at 870 fps and it is accurate onlt till 50 yards at this fps. For 90 yards accuracy I increase 25 grain fps to 935 and the same pellet becomes laser.

My barrel has 1:19" twist rate as I understand.

I also think of upgrading the probe by an O ring as shown in the pic below. It may help 100% sealing.

Further, I need efficiency. For this purpose I hope that I have to reduce the reg pressure as well as hammer weight and use lighter hammer spring.

I have contacted RAW as well as Ken Hicks but their responses are awaited.

Crusher,

There was very slight leak at breach that I fixed. Its better now.

But I am now in search of best combination for efficiency.

Ive found my .22 at 50fpe is noticeably louder than .25 at 60. No moderator on either caliber.

I think that is because of the diameter of the barrel. I am no expert at this but I think the smaller the opening the higher will be the pitch of the sound.

That sounds exactly right, its a different pitch.

i purchased it on SPAWEAPONS..... i wrote to Ken and called RAW and they told me that my barrel is OK..... but i know its impossible that my old barrel is quieter than my new one.... i paid $500+ for it... theres is no baffles in it.... i sent some pictures to RAW and they didnt solve anything!!
