I have a 24” AF barrel in .25 that I would like to remove the choke from. Does anyone know how short I would need to cut it to fully remove the choke? I’d be getting it re-crowned and threaded at the same time.

What ive seen done to find where the choke is, is to put a pellet and push it with a rod and whetever you feel more resistance thats where the choke is at, im not sure bout any other methods tho so hope it helps

Thats what ya do … Generally choke will be found in the last 1" to 1 1/4"

OR …. Simply counter bore the muzzle to a depth that clears out the choke, clean up the crown and you still retain the same OAL along with the muzzle threading.

If it were mine I would REAM it out at 5/16" ( .312" ) which would make cleaning up the crown easy peezy …. DONE !
