Regulator for Marauder Gen 2 .177

Who makes the best regulator for a Marauder Gen 2 in .177 caliber?

I've been looking at the Huma and the Altaros. Altaros seems very easy to install. Are there any other brands I should consider?

I would recommend the huma with or with out gauge block. But thats the only marauder reg a have experience with. There is another good company, I think its called Lane regulators but can't remember off hand. Kept going back and fourth between the two and before huma came out with the .30 reg.

I'd recommend the Huma as well. Both companies are good to work with but if you go with the Huma from Air Supiority they are more local and Nick is great to deal with.

Huma +3 ,IT is the Marauders best friend,when i got the p- rod 24shots 585fps to 615 and back 585 in 24 shots .now 24 shots @650fps 18,13s or where the magic happens with 15.89s @ 700fps . Great fun- project , supper easy install and,instant gains for me I learned a ton about h/s, v/s regulating,porting,polishing,quieting,

Drain air- unscrew front,fill valve, tie fishing line to reg for retrieval later,and poke the reg in through the front- reassemble,u will need a chronograph if don't have one already

With the Huma do I see the regulated pressure on the manometer or the unregulated tank pressure?

It will be the regulated pressure. I went with out the gauge block to get a couple more shots.

Please excuse my ignorance, but with the gauge block it would show unregulated tank pressure? That's what I would like to see.

I think I understand better now. You either get the regulated pressure on the gauge or get a regulator without the gauge port and get a few more shots, but there is no way to get unregulated pressure with the Huma or Lane regulators. The Altaros does give unregulated pressure due to the design.

Has anyone tried the Altaros regulator?

Im sure Altaros is a good company and it would be nice to easily have unregulated pressure read out. The downside to Altaros is it makes the plenum very small. Witch is fine if you are only shooting paper but not so good if your going to do any hunting do to the power limitations.

That makes sense. I'm using this rifle for field target, so it will be less than 20 FPE.

I've regulated two guns with Altaros regulators. One was a BSA Lonestar and the other was a Condor .25 custom with a 12" barrel. When you specify the regulator you will also be telling Altaros about the power levels you intend to get from the installed regulator. I believe they use that information to establish the plenum size. I've had excellent results from their regulators and they are exceptional in the service department. Very respectable company.

I'm going to try the Altaros regulator. I like the fact that I can still see the unregulated pressure in the tube. Install seems simple enough. I will report back once it arrives and I get it installed. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

For sure, if you can let us know how it does on the break in. Should be some where between 200 To 400 shots. I mite get one for my .22

For sure, my huma took about 300 shots to break in. It still worked great new it just settled down and the es tightened up to 5 fpe
