First, try using heavier pellets like the 34 grain jsb’s. Also, those Barracuda hunters are like the crow magnums, right? Just a solid open cavity for a hollow point? Try the Hunter extremes or the Haydes if you are seeking a destructive type head, instead. I was a big fan of the Beeman and H&N Crow magnums cause they did well in my gas ram springers, and thought they would do well in pcp’s, but they didn’t. The dome heads and Barracuda Hunter extremes work well for me.
try and order some extra springs thru hatsan, or if you have a spring compression tester tool or access to one, mic out the factory spring, check compressed weight, and order ones thru McMaster Carr. With those new springs, try experimenting by snipping off different coil amounts to shorten the spring to give you more room to adjust your hammer spring tension, to get the speeds down. The speeds you have currently at a 1000 FPS and up, it’s no wonder your having accuracy issues, sir.
even on my own 30 cal, the factory out of box speed of 1075 FPS caused crazy groups. I have the hammer spring adjustment but out 12 whole turns CCW and am set at around 876 FPS average, for 22 shots max, which is 6 more shots over the factory settings which only gave me 16.
on the bottle resting on a rest, have no fear, unless your literally throwing that bottle onto the rest, lol. Removal of the cover in its entirety is your choice, of course, and others I’ve discussed this with have kept there bottle covers on by gluing or using two sided tape between the bottle cover and the bottle, but the one thing they for sure did was cut off the two barrel shrouds rings from the cover, to isolate the scope rail. If you watch really close, as you tilt the gun on the rest(especially with a bipod) the flex of the bottle cover transfers onto the barrel shroud, then onto the scope rail. That scope rail is a hollowed out piece of channel underneath, not solid, and will flex and twist. Well, that then transfers onto your scope and mounts.
Trust me when I suggest to order the scope rail that is off of the hatsan Bullmaster from HatsanUSA, and use that instead. It is a direct bolt on to the existing mount locations, it’s a solid piece of aluminum bar, and it’s only $29! Don’t hack up your factory scope rail with a hack saw to shorten it and remove that bottle cover. You may want to sell that gun one day. With that Bullmaster rail, you should see a big difference in the accuracy.
The Bully in itself is not a dime size, hole in hole gun like the more expensive platforms out there, but it is easily a 5/8” to 3/4” group gun out to 65 yards if you do your part. My buddy was over last summer, and we set up golf tees lined up on a 2x4 with holes drilled out to accept the tees, and we placed paintballs on top of these tees. At 65 yards we were popping those paintballs all over the place.so yes, the Bully has decent accuracy.
one other thing I did was to remove the barrel, set it up on a padded vice, and ran a Dewey cleaning rod thru it with a bore mop, coated with JB non embedding bore paste for around 75 passes. After cleaning out the lapping compound I then finished off with JB Bore Brite for around 30 passes, cleaned that out, then finalized with a couple of passes with a metal wax. Got the inside to a mirror finish. Make sure and stop about 3-4” short from the crown when using the bore paste, though, as you don’t want to lap the crown.
