Regulated Marauder is a little anemic

Hey Y'all,

I've been tinkering around with my regulated marauder and I've come to realize it's not quite as powerful as I'd like. It's shooting around 840 FPS with 10.34's (with the hammer spring tension at 2 rotations, about as far as I'd ever take it with a regulated rifle). I'd like to get around 875 FPS.

I'm using a lightweight hammer - 24.4 grams including the striker. The regulator is set at 110 BAR. Valve adjustment is all the way open and I have a Hill 6 lightweight valvespring installed. I'm thinking that maybe the hammer is too light to fully compress the valve spring and allow all the air through the TP. So perhaps lowering the regulator pressure would yield higher power since it would be easier for the hammer to open the valve?

Am I mistaken? Should I raise or lower the reg pressure?

Thanks,
Nico

You should increase hammer spring tension more than 2 turns with your current set up. Also, I would not run regulator any lower and possibly higher than present set point. Your light weight hammer should be plenty heavy enough to open your valve with a hill #6 spring.

Benjamin/Crosman run their hammer spring preload 3.5 turns in on a stock unregulated .22 Marauder and more regulated, like 6 turns in (I think I remember reading).

This has been the case with my limited experience but hopefully one of the other members with vastly more expertise than I will post.

As the original architect of light weigh hammers in regulated marauders, they run great on 20 grams of hammer so your 24 gram should be just fine !

Full stroke on hammer and factory 6# spring along with much lighter poppet spring should yield 900 fps with 10.3's easily. Reg pressure at 1600 PSI

Transfer path valve to barrel best at @ .140" running regulated.

Done many Dozens and it works every time !!

Okay great, thank you. I'll try the factory hammer spring I put a lighter spring in there.

Thanks,
