Tuning Regular Benjamin Marauder .22 Tune Question

I'm assuming you mean that you want to put a better barrel on and regulate it.

Not sure if you'll be able to find an easy or cheap direct swap Lothar Walther barrel but someone bought Jim Gaska's equipment he used to make Marmot Militia hammer forged barrels so you might be able to get one of those. I can't remember his name, hopefully someone can fill in contact info.

There are multiple options for adding a regulator to Marauders. I use a Robert Lane reg but Huma also seems popular.

Changing barrels and adding regulators have been common mods for Marauders for a long time. There should be a lot of how to guides and videos if you decide to do it yourself.

Yes, not sure if anyone had contacts of a shop or certain people who could do those mods for me. It’s not as easy as just buying a barrel from Lothar Walthar and screwing it in.

Marmot Militia barrels were the only pre made drop ins that I knew of, LW blanks will need to be machined. As far as I know Crosman is still not selling their LW Marauder barrels outside of complete guns. Barrel swaps are very easy to do.

There are lots of YouTube videos if you’re going to do it yourself

Actually, in your case I would sell your rifle and buy a Field & Target model already complete.

AA Classifieds has one for sale, right now..

BTW...Marauder barrels are not “Screwed in”.

If I remember correctly, the F&T was a Marauder with an adjustable regulator. If you want to add a regulator, plan on spending some time on the project. I did, it's well worth the time, but to get it right, you'll need some parts. Also, I'm not aware of an after market externally adjustable regulator for the Marauder. Mine is completely internal, so when you want to adjust, you degass the gun, take it apart, pull the reg, adjust, put it all back together, air up the gun, test. Rinse and repeat. I hear good reports on just about every regulator out there for Marauders, but don't go cheap, get a good one with a good reputation.

I ended up adding the regulator sold by Hill, replacing the hammer with a lighter hammer, keeping the original striker, replacing the transfer port with a Hill transfer port, and getting a lighter hammer spring.

In the end, I tuned it to about 22 FPE and get about 50 shots per fill. 50 yard accuracy is excellent as it's not over powered. Very quiet too. Tom Holland (Xbowsniper) and Hill airguns got me through the upgrade.

Lastly, if you plan on installing a regulator, plan on polishing the barrel. Crosman punches the slots for trigger and screws leaving big burrs inside that tear up the o-rings. I used a small aluminum rod wrapped in 3/4 inch duct tape, then taped some sandpaper to it. Chucked it into a drill and off we went. Moved through 400 to 2000 grit to get a nice smooth finish that didn't tear up o-rings anymore. And, do buy lots of spare o-rings. You'll probably need them.

Project was well worth the time. Highly recommend it. A chronograph is a must for the project as well.

Have fun

Isn’t the F&T regulated? If so I would get a huma. Also tim hill (eBay or hillairgun.com) makes parts for the marauder. He’s very helpful too. My marauder has nearly every part he makes installed in it and I’m very happy with it.

as far as a barrel goes. This guy makes .22 TJ barrels for the marauder.

it’s fun to do it yourself but it’s probably cheaper to buy it the way you want it too.

Bear in mind that by adding an aftermarket regulator to a non regulated Marauder the manometer will only read regulated air pressure or no air pressure if you need to remove the manometer to install your regulator so regardless you need to count your number of shots to know when it needs to be refilled unless you get the end of air cylinder manometer and fill probe assembly such as the ones Talon Tunes used to sell and possibly Huma of they have them available.

If it were me I would just sell the old Marauder and buy a new Field and Target model with the 5 year warranty and bear in mind they got less power than the unregulated guns such as yours. At least this way you are assured you get an accurate shooting gun with a warranty and if it's not accurate warranty replaces the barrel.

Heres a cheap 22 alternative that won't break the bank that a $50 TKO22 LDC would make really quiet. No regulator needed 25 shots dead on with only 2000psi fill pressure needed. 5 year warranty too. Nickel sized groups at 60-65 yards. 2 inch spinner targets capable at 100 yards. May Even like cheap Crosman Premier Hollowpoints too.

Want a match grade trigger for it buy the OEM factory Crosman Challenger trigger from Crosman direct and use a gift card cut to make a gasket to shim it to work with the Maximus.
