Regal XL

While I do understand having the bolt action to keep it in the line as a traditional rifle, I'm not opposed to a side lever. My ideal Huntsman would be regulated, have a side lever, external transfer port adjuster and hammer spring adjuster for 30/20/12 or 10 FPE. A better moderator would be great or better yet, no epoxy or thread lock on the 1/2×20 adapter. Have a thicker and flatter portion underneath the forend of the stock for a 5 slot picatinny rail so I can use a variety of bipods. Leave the LW barrel alone. It's a good one. It would be great competition for the FX Dreamline with the exception of modularity.

I think the Daystate is a more robust rifle, and I prefer its trigger design, but you can get what you want in an FX Royale 400. And mine shoots as well from the mag as single shot, never had a Daystate/Brocock that did. It's the original solid Smooth Twist barrel, no sleeve/liner system, which I believe is a far more trouble free, robust design. Overall, I think the Daytstate is a better rifle, and I'm not an FX fanboy, but they got it right with the Royale platform.

My ideal Daystate in this @ Platform / Size & Weight is one I happen to own own ... it being the BASIC Mk-3 electronic gun that was not regulated or used a pressure transducer.

It is mechanically very similar too a huntsman tho has an electronic trigger. It was converted to have a HUMA in-tube regulator which married the whole together very well.

Breech riser added so barrel is fully floating having no barrel band. Large @ 1 1/4" shroud and just stupid quiet.

Modest air tube, light weight, IIRC 10 step power adjust-ability shooting with a very low ES value. At just > 20fpe on the 230 bar fill it shoots an astounding +/- 70 shots in .20 caliber.

While a modified gun .. it's attributes are what daystate could make and sell a bunch IMO because of the base simplicity and how well the combo works !

No electro regulation wizardry ... just the firing system & a reliable HuMa regulator. Whats not to like ?

Scott, that mkiii is beautiful! Luv what you added to it and really like the oversized shroud! Just oozes classic figured stock too 😉.

I must’ve gotten lucky because both my Compatto and Bantam Sniper are just as accurate whether single loaded or shot from the magazine. I have three different mags, they all work great. I bet that most shooters wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the “supposed” difference. I’ve confirmed this through thousands of pellets down range. So “all” your Daystate and Brococks suffered from this? It’s a non-issue perpetuated by a few...

@peskadot671, if the Regal was configured as you described it would be my next PCP.

Can't say if you have been lucky, or that I have been unlucky. I've had 4 Daystate/Brocock rifles, including a current Red Wolf, and none of the four shot well from the magazine. And this is far from a "supposed" difference. The variance in average group size was from 25 to 50 per cent worse with the magazine. The Red Wolf is not a hunting rifle, and I seldom use the magazine, so not a big deal. The worst offender was a Brocock Bantam. Shooting single-shot, it would shoot tiny one-hole groups at my typical hunting distances of 30-35 yards, and with the magazine, I would get frequent flyers of one inch at that distance, enough to miss a squirrel head. My experience was similar with a Daystate Wolverine and Regal. I can't explain it, but I have no reason to misrepresent it. The Regal is a great rifle, and perhaps most of them shoot very well from the magazine.

I've had my .22 Regal XL since 2017 and never noticed any difference in accuracy using the magazine or single shot tray at 50 yards. I currently have the original magazine that came with it and was thinking about purchasing a second one but I'm a little hesitant now. I only started hearing about bad magazines from other users about a year after I bought my Regal.
