Regal XL

Agree with others here on their process improvement suggestions for Daystate Regal XL. The Daystate Regal is an extremely popular and beloved Airgun by many inside and outside the U.S.

I have a Motörhead tuned Regal XL .22 caliber with a Huma regulator, and love the accuracy, feel, and overall beautiful look of the gun. However, having a larger air cylinder (not a bottle), an external power adjuster wheel with two or three power levels, and a side lever would be well received in the Airgun market place. But, my sense is that the focus is on future technology and other platforms.

Daystate, if you are listening or monitoring this forum, it would be nice to see your response to these ideas.
Thanks!

Sonnysan - I have a different perspective on your commentary.

Can’t recall where I read it, but I do know that Daystate wanted to keep the Regal as a traditional rifle like a Centerfire with a bolt. And, I totally understand your desire to keep “as is.”

However, there have been many complaints on the relative stiffness of the bolt action. Do a search on GTA, AGN and other forums and this is one of the rare Concerns many Regal owners have had with the non regulated Regal. Not sure if this was fixed in the newer regulated versions. As an example, when my Regal was first purchased from AoA in March 2018, there were several occasions where I thought I had sufficiently pulled the bolt back and thought the rifle was cocked, and it was not. I quickly realizedI had to really pull back each and every time time to insure it was cocked. My only point here is that side levers are extremely popular and it is not wrong for folks to want to see a side lever, regardless of Daystate’s rationale for staying with a bolt action. A longer air cylinder would improve the shot count, which has been another beef with Regal owners. Having an easily adjustable external power adjuster would only enhance an already great rifle.

Electronic version,?. Why not ask and see what may or may not be possible?

There is no one opinion of right or wrong here, and I realize you are not implying that. I think there is enough interest by other owners to see what Daystate thinks.

I'm in the camp of NO electronics. I'd rather not have something like that fail, as I can't fix it myself.😕 Besides, the Huma regulators are darn near bulletproof.

The simplicity and reliability of the Regal makes it a classic. And the fact that they put such an amazing trigger in it... just wow. Not only can it be made a very crisp and safe 8oz, it's also super simple to adjust to one's own preference. The sidelever would really make it close to perfection for a carbine.

@green_yamo This is the Genus, it pretty much embodies what you described. It's available, minus the side lever, for $2K. Personally, I think it looks like DooDooBrown. Hate the look of the long stock. Personal taste I guess.

Now this! with a side lever would be the Cat's Meow to me. I would buy one of these in a heartbeat in .177 12fpe, lever action. Shoot, I would just slap the single shot tray on there and probably sell the magazine.

As for electronics, I think the closest gun to the Huntsman they had was the MK4. I think the Real Estate in the body of the the Huntsman doesn't allow for all the extra guts required for the electronics.

I spent some time talking to the owner of Daystate and other representatives of the company at EBR and I was told to keep an eye out for a Side Lever (option) on the Regal. Whether or not they bring it to the market remains to be seen.

I agree that the genus stock is pretty ugly. However, I DO like the longer length of it.

My ideal Daystate in this @ Platform / Size & Weight is one I happen to own own ... it being the BASIC Mk-3 electronic gun that was not regulated or used a pressure transducer.

It is mechanically very similar too a huntsman tho has an electronic trigger. It was converted to have a HUMA in-tube regulator which married the whole together very well.

Breech riser added so barrel is fully floating having no barrel band. Large @ 1 1/4" shroud and just stupid quiet.

Modest air tube, light weight, IIRC 10 step power adjust-ability shooting with a very low ES value. At just > 20fpe on the 230 bar fill it shoots an astounding +/- 70 shots in .20 caliber.

While a modified gun .. it's attributes are what daystate could make and sell a bunch IMO because of the base simplicity and how well the combo works !

No electro regulation wizardry ... just the firing system & a reliable HuMa regulator. Whats not to like ?
