refillable CO2 12 gram cartridge

ok so I have 2 questions and would greatly appreciate any ideas..

I like shooting cowboy guns.. I mostly shoot the cowboy powder guns.. but I have seen the refillable 12 gram CO2 cartridges on Amazon and I was hoping someone would have experience with this.. so since powder cartridges are getting harder to get and I like single action pistol I was thinking about getting the Colt peacemaker SAA but I don't shoot enough at a time to use a CO2 cartridge.. I believe CO2 is between 800-1000 psi depending on the temperature.. I have my own compressor for my america tactical Nova Liberty 22.. so I am wondering if I could fill the refillable 12 gram cartridge with air and possibly get 6 decent shots?? I have read reviews and watched YouTube and seems like everyone has a different idea.. any suggestions.. it appears that you can get either a CO2 gun or if you want PCP pistols they start at $1000 and I would like a pistol that is good enough but not break the bank..

second question is about PCP guns.. I feel fortunate to have the American tactical Nova Liberty 22.. regulated.. with open sights..love the gun, but apparently it has been discontinued and I may at some point later have trouble getting parts..I can't use a scope.. and apparently now it's rare to find a PCP with open sights.. I was wanting something different, but the only two I can find that either have open sights or a possibility of adding them are the hatsan blitz 22.. I've read both good and bad about that gun.. or get a Benjamin bulldog and the pitbull regulator kit and add on open sights since it has a full length rail.. but it's problem is about the same as my powder guns.. I can't seem to find 357 pellets and I don't want to buy a expensive gun and not have ammo..

so please if anyone has ideas please let me know.. and hopefully I can find your ideas since I am new on here today and still trying to figure out how it works..

thank you

I can't help with the second part of your question, but I can with the first.

I have a refillable cart and it turned out to be a waste of money and time. To fill it with co2, you need to stick it in the freezer for awhile before filling to ensure the liquid state actually enters into it. The filling system is similar to how refillable butane lighters work. The stems are generally flimsy and don't seat well against the fill port allowing gas to escape and possibly freezing your hand during the process. On top of all that, it's extremely easy to overfill and have a vapor locked pipe bomb in your hands. If you get your co2 bottles filled at some place like Dick's, you'll see that they fill by weight, not volume, and it's hard to judge how much you are actually putting in.

Trying to use it with regular air would require you to modify the valve to try to get any decent number of shots. You would get a little bit into it, but would only get about 2 shots at maybe 250fps. Again, it's too much hassle to mess with.

My suggestion is to keep on top of maintenance of your guns and not worry too much about wasting co2 carts. If everything is working and sealed like it should be, the cart should last long enough for a few sessions before leaking off.

thank you for the info on the refillable CO2 cartridges.. sounds like they are just junk..

I've been on the fence on the Diana bandit.. rws/Diana made wonderful guns, but I talked with a airgun shop and both the bandit and stormrider are being discontinued.. and unfortunately like most of the less expensive guns are made in China.. so I guess I better get off the fence and buy one, spare magazines and a barrel band.. possibly the stormrider too.. I really don't know why they don't put the barrel band on to begin. unfortunately with the moderator it's like 18" long.. so I don't know of any holster.. quite the hogleg..

I have also considered the Benjamin maurader pistol.. same length, more shots but unless I want to machine a front barrel band with a sight it appears that scope or dot sight is the only option on it.. but a plus is USA made, so more likely to get parts in the future..does anyone know if there's a holster for the Benjamin maurader or the Diana bandit.. just not up to a leather working project

we get cold weather here and that's a big drawback to the CO2 cartridges.. I'm afraid if I bought the Colt peacemaker SAA, that could easily cost a lot more, extra cartridges, lever action to match and possibly ace in the hole..then cartridge belt and holster 🤣 but might be lots of fun unless I can't find the cartridges in the woods after using the lever action 🤣

all you people are so very helpful.. thanks for the information

still learning how to work the site.. thanks for the information.. yes I have been on the fence on the Diana bandit.. talked to a airgun shop and it's being discontinued along with the stormrider.. guess I better get off the fence and buy it while it's available.. that said I guess I will need spare magazines and I don't understand why they don't put on the barrel band.. so order it too.. I was disappointed that like most things, Diana used to be made in Germany but it is now made in China.. such a long hogleg with the moderator, do you know if any holster is available?

I also considered the Benjamin maurader pistol but no open sights I can find.. it's the same length, but more shots per charge and USA made so more likely to get parts later on..

any suggestions on the bandit accessories and if anyone knows of holsters for either one or open sights for the Benjamin maurader pistol would be greatly appreciated

thanks so much for your help

thank you for the Diana bandit 22 suggestion.. I was considering that gun about a month ago and either it was a good thing I didn't buy it or I should have.. I did a lot of checking about getting one ordered today, but it has been discontinued pyramid air has a few left but no magazines and I have read that both the bandit and stormrider need the barrel band to stabilize it.. and they don't come with it, it's a add on.. unfortunately I can't locate the barrel band either..

so I guess I am back to looking.. sort of wish I had bought it a month ago but since it is discontinued I'd probably not be able to get parts down the road..

elwoodblues

please let me know if you have contact info for buck rails.. website, phone number or something, I can't seem to find them..

I'm also wondering if they have rebuild parts because the bandit and stormrider are discontinued?? so would I potentially be buying a gun that is disposable..

that said I need to make a quick decision on wether to buy it or not.. there's only a few left at pyramid air as of last week.. just the gun with 1 magazine in 22 caliber..

thank you for your reply and also if you can direct me how to contact them.
