Refillable 88g / 90g AirSource Cylinder

https://alliancehobby.com/88g.htm

Okay, so I found this thing whilst fumbling around on the net. It's $49 and I just want to know if anyone has any experience with them. It looks to be a 88 gram JT CO2 cartridge which has been modified to include a fitting for refilling. They say it is compatible with a Hamerli 850, which I would think would mean it is also compatible with my Umarex 850 M2.

It would be cool to be able to refill my own 88 gram CO2 cartridges...maybe cheaper????

I've been set up for Co2 bulk filling for decades (with a 50# soda tank, a 20 ounce tank, and 10 ounce tanks), and consider it a big pain in the ass. I wouldn't recommend opening that can of worms to anyone that doesn't shoot a LOT of Co2.

Despite a lot of whining and complaining about disposable Co2 cartridges, I appreciate their unique advantages.

Wow, wasn't expecting to hear that but glad I did. I am actually doing pretty good with the 88 gram Umarex and Sig Sauer cartridges--250 shots--not too shabby. With the pellet included its only about 3.6 cents a shot. i am hitting targets at 100 yards, too. So...

but would like to hear what problems you encountered. So far I can see it costing me $50 for the refillable CO2 cartridge which stays in my gun, 50 to 70 for a 5 pound tank, maybe another 30 or 40 for the hoses and fittings, and 15 to fill a 5 pound tank. I'm getting 2 Umarex 88grams for 12.99 and free shipping via Amazon.

The only really advantage i saw to refillable cartridges was being able to top them off so power might be more consistent. I could very well be wrong about that.

I do ALOT of shooting. Am retired and when there are no waves for surfing, I am at the range plinking.

You don't really need to buy a 5-20lb tank. You can buy an inexpensive 20oz paintball tank and have it re-filled at any paintball shop, and some sporting goods stores. The most expensive part would be the on/off/bleed valve for the tank the other items are relatively cheap 4" hp hose and the adapter to the 88g or the 2x 12g.

For me, toting one or two 20oz tanks to the shooting sight was a lot less work and weight than a dive tank.

I'm happy to tell you all the nuances about Co2 bulk-filling, but not by keyboarding. Also retired, feel free to call me any day between noon and midnight (CST) at 254-253-1239.
