Share your Daystate RedWolf 22HP Experience

Hi Michael. Followed your tuning with the RedWolf and see you settled at 940fps. Is this where you found the best accuracy? Didn’t seem to be much in it with the groups you posted. I saw your settings ended up 930 940 950 and your explanation for why. That is a great idea. Use the adjustability fo the RedWolf to make it more consistent in varying temperatures ect. Not what the designers had in mind I’m sure but a really clever way to use it.

My RedWolf is averaging 925fps ES 19fps and shot count similar to you at 45. Don’t know that I can resist getting a programmer. As far as I know there isn’t one in the country! (Australia).

RE: Magazine related defect

While at the range a fellow RedWolf owner mentioned that the pin the cycles the magazine had popped out of the receiver. I found this interesting since I noticed the same thing with my RW the other day.

Neither of us would have noticed except for the fact that the pin ended up lodged against one of the magnets that holds the single shot pellet loader in place. Owners that rarely use their magazines may want to keep an eye out for pin failure.

I'll take mine in for warranty repair once he gets his back from AoA.

Best wishes.

The other Mark B.

I'm one that rarely uses the magazine and certainly will keep my eye open for this potential issue. Let us know the specifics about the repair. Thanks for sharing!

I wonder if not using a mag makes that advancement pin work harder? Kinda like dry firing a gun, some firing pins don't hold up well to not striking anything. I had mine break on my first Renegade and I never single loaded it so I know it breaks with a mag. Just wondering if no mag is even worse case for it? Or does the tray act like a mag and give the pin something to act like a mag when the gun is fired. Food for thought.

Just got back from AOA and they were extremely busy with Black Friday, Cyber Monday. It was my luck to go in at the right time, as one of the Technicians had just finished up a job and was able to help me right away. They took my RW back, along with the pin - they fixed it without telling me what the cause was. It was guessed that maybe since I hadn't been using the single shot magazine and had the shot count on; that it allowed the pin to jump. Not sure if that was the issue. Sorry guys - I should have been more persistent but, like I said they were extremely busy.

Mark - maybe when you take yours in, you can find out what the technician thinks is the cause?

Please help... I recently bought a Red Wolf HP .22 ... and heres the problem.. If I use the 10shot magazine that is supplied with the gun, the gun is useless... it wont group with any of the pellets i have... but... when i use the single shot tray.. its pellet on pellet at 50 very very accurate.. But I use my gun for pest control on the farm and dont have time to single load every time.. any advice please.

1st - are you using a moderator? At 25m I had the same issue using my moderator, but by taking it off I was able to put the JSB 25's in a dime size holes. I still haven't tried going back to JSB 18's, maybe in the future. I believe that the moderator causes too much turbulence and the pellet doesn't have enough time to re-balance at short distances. Am planning to get their - just haven't.

2nd - have you tried a different moderator? At first I was having clipping issues with my moderator, I asked AOA if they would take a look. Kip said that he thought it was clipping and ground it out a bit, but still had issues at the closer distances.

I am still having issues with the RW at 50 yards and will continue to work on it. I was doing ok on targets from 75 to 100 yards in the bench rest competitions. A friend at the range week before last, set a new record at the 75 y range; shooting a 607 out of 640! The RW 22 HP can be very accurate it just takes time to dial them in.

As one of the others on this forum said to me - take your time and enjoy the ride.

Rob, I’m using the gun without moderator, I neither have one. But is a common that it could really interfere with.

I’ll show you my crono results in m/s:

JSB Monster 25.39gn at High, 277m/s

H&N 21.14gn at Mid, 268m/s

JSB 18.13gn at Low, 250m/s

I’ve got 3 RW HP in .22 at the same time, indoors and measured them. All 3 went at so different speeds. Mine is 20/25 m/s faster than the others.

I shot mine yesterday and was averaging 947 fps with the 25.39 redesigned. Accuracy was good but fell off a bit at the end of the tin... typically, this means it's time to clean the barrel.

As far as the moderator, I never use mine. The gun is quiet enough and I rather not add another variable when I'm punching paper at 50 and 100 yards. ~Carl

Mine is flawless.. 924 FPS, 30 yards used the magazine. Center is zeroing, three groups next to pellets 5 shots each.
