Redneck side focus scope lever

Way to go MacGyver!

Zip-Ties rock.. I've used them for pretty much the same thing - On my DSLR camera lenses.. 
I also used to zip them onto the ends of my rifle barrels, poke a hole, add a string, and use em' for wind indicators.. 

Hey, if you decide that you'd like to 'upgrade' at any point in the future, 
there are actual gadgets that are made for camera focus rings, and they'll zip down to fit on our scope knobs too!

I have one of those Amazon offerings, and found they are far from ideal for use on a scope. As the diameter of a cameralens is typically much bigger than the sidefocus or the zoom wheel on a scope, mine tends to become unstable due to the smaller diameter of the knobs. In addition to that, you want to tighten the thingy even more, to overcome the unstability, but they are not made in a way like zip ties are, meaning you cannot tighten it extremely and keep it locked at this tight setting.

Bottomline; The idea is good, but the execution is poor. A much better alternative (that really works as it grips VERY tight) are the so called ‘fishing coasters”.

And lastly an idea to even improve the redneck sidefocus scope lever: is to daisychain 3 zipties, and tighten them so the bulky part is equidistant of eachother, and you get 3 finger grip points instead of just one!
