Hi Rog. Have you tried to “lightly” lube the slugs. Try some ballistol. I think it improved accuracy slightly and the barrel stays cleaner.
As the pressure drops is the speed dropping? If not then it could be just the change in the harmonics as the air delivery changes from a very short super high pressure pulse to a lower pressure but more air. I did a post about this but it didn’t get much traction.
Shooting tethered is a good idea. Huma sell an externally adjustable regulator you could experiment with the pressure to see what works You should be able to get incredible consistency with a regulator on a RedWolf that way I have been thinking of doing the same thing A 580cc bottle will also give you a few more shots in the zone.
Ive installed a Heliboard in my RedWolf and I love it Initially thought the 12 power settings was a bit much but when your searching for the correct speed for a particular projectile it is so easy to just work your way up through the levels increasing speed with for example the monsters by 20fps per setting Great for dialing in the slugs Then of course you can fine tune your speed once your in the ball park
also the standard RW has only 3 pressure reference points This is where the programming changes and you get a different set of imput criteria for the new pressure zone You will notice this and Ill bet that is what’s happening when your groups change
The Heliboard has 20 references points! It can be tuned to flatten the shot curve Because there are 20 and they can be tuned you don’t notice that sudden change in the way things are working inside the gun
