lol
So I am new to air guns but not new to shooting. I got very used to using a non-magnified red dot while in the Army. I would like to use at least a 4x powered red dot as I am very comfortable with them. What are the pros and cons of them on air guns and what is a good one to consider? I have a ruger impact max so seems mounting wont be a issue with the weaver rail on it. I will be using it for hunting and plinking.

Only 2 problems I can see is that springers can have a harsh double recoil so make sure it is rated for a spring air gun. Also make sure it has mil dots so you have something to put on your target at different ranges. 10 yards to 35 yards could be a big difference for an air gun. Different than a 5.56/.223 close combat rifle. lol Maybe go with a fixed 4 power scope. Let us know what you get and how it works.

There are so many unanswered questions here. What caliber, what distance range, pellet speed, kind of pest you hunt. In many cases if using a flat shooting .177 at 890 -910 fps shooting fast moving rats or some such out to about 40 yards they work great because of pretty flat trajectory and on a PCP. When you get into the larger calibers or lower speeds and longer distances you start having trouble. Who know how they hold up to springer, but I think most of us would think you will have a junk pile in a few weeks. My 2Cents.
