Red dot scope.

Over the years, 
I've gone with red dot scopes for little bullpups and mini carbines, and I enjoyed them all a lot.
Tasco has a high end Pro-Point that I loved, so, I usually went with those.. 

Last year, I built a few Ruger 10/22 custom bench-rifles.. 
When I wasn't using them to shoot long range, I'd use my red-dot, and it worked out great! 
I could hit targets ranging from 10 yards to 100 yards with it, AND, even used it out to 300 yards!
Granted, I used all sorts of hold-over, but, I still did it.. haha

I have a brand new one that I got for my PCP rifles, but, after mocking it up on a few of them, 
I decided not to use it, because I like to jam the scopes right up against my eye, 
and I couldn't do that with the red-dot..

PS: I was going to use this red-dot on my Artemis PP700S-A pistol, 
but, I since converted the pistol to 'rifle configuration', so it got a regular scope also..

As for magnification.. It depends on the scope.. 
Mine is a 1x, so no magnification..
Other versions offer [fixed] magnification. 

the good red dots are holosun eotech aimpoint and trijicon none are cheap very good for 20 to 50 yard shooting good to 150 yards after that get a scope they range from 300 to 600 bucks need batteries to work and can be found for the cheapest price on Amazon. 

I have three red dots on pistols. My first was a Matchdot II then I bought a couple Burris Fastfire 3's. Most will tell you to get a small dot. My preference is the 8 MOA dot. At 21 yards I can hit Pig Silhouette's very regular. at the same distance I place the Chickens and really surprise myself how often they fly. I even try it out on my ten meter targets in the house and get great scores. What I'm finding for me is if I have a small dot or crosshairs I try to keep a center hold and can't. So the trigger pull gets rushed. With the big dot the dot just sets there and I focus on a squeeze and hit targets. 

I’ve never been able to figure out why some are so cheap and others VERY expensive. I don’t know what’s “in there” but seems to me a hundred should get a fellow what he needs. 

Ive never seen one with magnification are there some that do?

I like them on pistols air rifles should be ok if they can take the recoil? Better consider if you are putting on a springer 

I believe not long ago a very famous airgun author posted a whole chapter about air pistol sighting options from his latest book specifically about air pistols on this forum. Apparently he is the most widely-experienced air pistol shooter in the U.S., and has authored several airgun books. Shouldn't be hard to find that post.

BTW Bosco, I think you'd love a non-magnifying red-dot sight for you purpose.

I have the tru glo on a 2400kt and wouldn’t use anything else on this particular gun. Great for tree rats out the back door A scope for this application just doesn’t make sense to me. Cost was $65ish at dicks sporting Have fun

I have two of the UTG micro dot sights on my pistols. The are tiny and work great. Currently $72 on Amazon.

so I decided to take the advice I have a RAZOR AMG holographic sight 1 moa red dot with a 3x magnifier so I switched it out with the Eotech and man this impact is a laser beam compared to my Eotech EXPS3 . I sighted in on a saw horse with a rolled towel and couldn't miss I rarely missed off hand then it just didn't seem to hit anything a couple shot later and blowback when I cocked the rifle.So back to the workshop I went 6 pellets stuck in the barrel again is it because I have power wheel set to min or bad pellets.
