Prod was purchased for close in pesting to 25 yards max. Perfect for mice, rats, squirrels out my/your back door and corvids as is my problem.
Testing various red dots from the Amazon <$40 Pinty red/green dot, Feyachi reflex and more expensive Bushnell TRS-25 and up to $395. Each were very good at delivering good value at the price point. I needed what I thought was a notch up, offering more clarity and brightness While having both eyes open. Athlon and Holosun red dots came around as being in a reasonable range and quality price wise at the next tier. Definitely worth considering. The Athlon Midas TSR2 and Holosun HS403R then made their way to the Prod. The Athlon held its own with the others but the Holosun was the clear winner with my eyes. Holosun's 1X was true to my eyes, along with the 2 MOA dot was fantastic out to 25 yards. Happy camper and quite satisfied with my choice at this point.
Then a diversion came along... .25 AirForce Condor. I needed a new scope for it. Only going to shoot it out to 120-150 yds. How about an LPVO!!! Of course. Small, light, bright and perfect for a midrange shooter, right? Well...we'll see. To start with, I sold the Air Force and moved on with my Prod for my test gun.
Reticles styles are very subjective at this low power ranges. For air gunners out to 50+, too little, too much or just not enough reticle input can be a real pain for your hold over/ hold under distancing and target acquisition with an air gun.
I ordered 2 LPVO's on Amazon just to try. A Burris 1-4x24 and a Monstrum Alpha 1-4x24. The Burris costing 3.52x the Monstrum cost ($112 and $395 respectably). Perfect to compare the details and my opinion of each. Simple for me. The Burris SFP had an AR reticle which was much too large for any detail under a 100yds for pesting an air gun. No go for me.
This Monstrum reticle is a fantastic X1 FFP 1-4x MOA and moving it over to the Prod was a perfect complement . What I received is way better than what I was expecting. It weighs in at 16oz along with a 4”+ eye relief, very bright, sharp image quality for this price range, excellent tactile fluid adjustments and an eye box that is very generous, all adding up to an incredible option to consider. This was a better choice over all for my style dedicated to too the Prod. As always, have fun, I did.
