Red Arrives

Here is a question for everyone with a RW. Tell me about your cleaning schedule. How often do you clean it? Does it shoot better fairly clean or does it like a few hundred wounds through it?

What about breech o'ring issues? Anyone having an issue keeping the breech o'ring in?

I have replaced the breach oring once due to running patchworm without removing the breach oring. However, I now line up the patchworm perfectly with the bore before i pull through and am no longer getting damaged o rings. I clean it about once every 600-800 rds. Rarely clean it though. These polybarrels are awesome.

That just shows how different these guys can be. My 22 HP likes to be clean. After 200-300 pellets, it starts to walk around a bit. I pull just a few patches through and it is right back to one hole.

Also, shooting the 34 gr kill the breech o'ring. On hi I'm shooting the 25's at over 950 fps. The 34's are smokin fast too but after maybe 30-50 rounds it kills the breech o'ring. I just bought some 5x1.5 buna 90 o'rings to see if that helps.

Anyone else shooting this hot and having similar issues?

I have to agree the loading gets rough with the 34 gr. I did notice a discrepancy between breach of rings. I saw a similar breach diameter one being sold For a brocock. However, the brocock orings inner thickness was actually larger than my red wolf's. Same diameter, increased inner thickness, both.22

I'm not sure I'm getting what you are saying. So the right o'ring is 5x1.5 which is 5mm inner diameter which fits the .22 and then the cross section of the ring is 1.5 mm. So are you saying the ring you are talking about has a larger cross section? Does that fit in the groove?

That is my thinking behind getting the buna 90's. They are the same size but are tougher. They should be able to take the intense pressure behind the 34's. I'm going to put one in today and shoot until it either blows out again or shows that it is the answer. I do realize that I am pushing the seal beyond what is expected. But if I can get this Red Wolf to shoot 34 grain pellets at 890, I might just have the most stable and accurate combo. Not to mention a .22 shooting 60 fpe. We'll see.

Hey Crusher, I'm at the 500 shot mark on my RW 22HP. With 400 shots of the 25's & 100 with the 34's. So far, no issues with the o-ring. Haven't cleaned the barrel as of yet either.

Mine is shooting at less power compared to yours and several others on the forum. 920 is avg on high for the 25grs and 803 for the 34's.

The digital pressure gauge is off 15 bar as well... this is compared to my JoeB gauge on one of my tanks and another fill station on a different tank. So, if I fill to 230 bar on the Wolf, the JoeB and the other gauge will say 245. What pressure are you filling to in your gun? I've read 230bar on Utah Air and 250bar on Daystate site.

I can air it up to 250 bar, but I find it shoots hot until about 230 bar. So to keep it consistent I've been filling to 230 now. My JoeB gauge agrees with my digital on the gun. Hoping to hit the range tomorrow and get some 50 and 75 shooting in. I'm trying to find what works best with each distance. The 18's on low are shooting about 890 (just chronoed today) and I want to see how they do at distance.

Also shot about 30 of the 34's today and didn't blow out the rear seal like it has been. Maybe tomorrow when I shoot. I'll be sure to take some spares with me so it doesn't end my day :)
