You could grind that one down and it will look a lot better. Just remove the pad and carefully grind the bad away a little at a time. I have done it and it wasn't that bad to do and looked good when I was done. I don't think the red pads are available anymore but you could probably find a black one. Good luck.

Here you go...I can't find the black later version, and if you have an early gun with the red type I'd think this as good as you can do?

If you want to keep the OEM pad and can salvage it to your satisfaction as mentioned above that is great. If not, your alternative is to buy an aftermarket pad and grind it to fit.
If you're going to go that trouble you might want to consider an adjustable butt pad like these from Bisley which I installed on a couple of HW55's......one with a scope and one with the factory aperture sight. Both guns shoulder much nicer now with the pads adjusted all the way down and the OEM pads are put away for safe keeping.
