I am new to airgunning. Active Benchrest 22 caliber powder shooter @ 50 yards on USBR targets. I bought my first airgun a few weeks ago and love it. I am told that PCP guns because of dual recoil tear scopes up. I am using a Nightforce scope that I removed from one of my Anschutz action guns. It is the 12-42 X 56 power scope. Focus begins @ 25 yards. Very large, very heavy, very accurate and bright. Am I making a mistake using this scope for target shooting?

PCP guns function in a similar manner to powder burners in terms of recoil. Springers/break barrels have the dual recoil that can damage scopes. There is nothing to be worried about.

Someone gave you the wrong information. It is break barrel gas ram springer rifles that suffer from the dual recoil not the pcp guns. You will not have a problem putting your night force on a pcp, but I would not put it on a heavy recoiling springer. There is no recoil on a pcp gun. Hope this helps

I thought this thread was going to be about bench rest shooting, gun recoil and accuracy.
PCP's do recoil, enough to affect accuracy depending how and where you hold them. At least, when shooting paper and especially significant when competing in bench rest.

what was the question?oh recoil with PCP air rifles.then he goes on to state that PCP rifles do have recoil,although I never really felt recoil on PCP rifles...

I can see some movement in my videos when slowed down. More of a slight blur. Bigbore Airguns recoil because of pellet weight. When I shoot my springer it vibrates but no recoil. When shooting my PCP gun not much vibration or recoil that I can feel but some movement.
