Recognize this unbranded PCP compressor sold under a brand name? Reliability?

@Ari thanks for the info and the tip. Ended up getting this one on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08LL1HMX3/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

At first I was not sure if for this price they are only selling the cartridge that goes inside or also the aluminum filter body. But the description says in Chinglish: :"The filter adopts seamless alloy aluminum integrated forming, the wall thickness is up to 9.68mm,..." And in the Q/A others also mentioned that it comes with the metal body, and two cartridges. But no filling hose, which is OK. It also has a pressure burst disk/port.

No that is a mistake, quickly cancel your order.

1.This cartridge is wider and twice the length of the small golden metal filter body that comes with the 12V portable compressor (if that's where you want to put it) so youll need to get shorter/smaller one for that.

2. I understand that you only got the cartridge that goes inside the blue metal body (as shown in the listing and in my photos). You will not get the metal body, two cartridges and a pressure burst disk/port for $27.99. These parts only come when you buy the entire Oil Water Separator for $58.49.

As a rule of thumb, the Q/A on Amazon can be misleading as they refer to the ENTIRE product and not necessarily to the separate part that you are buying , so if you buy a separate part of an entire product, you would still see the SAME Q/A

Oopps...let me take care of this. Thanks!

I guess I will throw some rain on the filter discussion.

Having been satisfied with the compressor purchased from Vevor, I bought one of the filters with an internal cartridge with three different materials. Silica gel/molecular sieve/activated charcoal. The first time I used it, it would not hold air, so I brushed some soapy water over every joint, and found a leak between the inlet cap and the main housing. It was screwed down solid against the housing, but still leaked.

After trying a number of different o-rings it still leaked, so I chucked it up in my lathe and cut a relief groove behind the threads, and using a different o-ring from a kit recently purchased from Harbor fright, it sealed up nice, and held 4000psi for hours.

Hand tighting the inlet cap I still had 0.4mm gap, which will allow me to crush the o-ring further if needed in the future.

This just proves that the manufacture's are are using zero QC prior to shipping them. I might add that I bought a cheap filling hose off ebay and the female quick disconnects would not work. Another trip to the lathe to machine the knurled slides to fix them.

Thanks for sharing. Nice work on that housing body there! Like you said, QC is not really a concern with this type of manufactures/products and it is up to US to make sure these products would function safely and as intended. Even though I detected no issues with mine, which does go all the way up to 250 bar in reasonable time (130-250 bar in 15-17/18 mins) but after reading this i'm starting to think maybe it could perform better / might be loosing some air that I'm not aware of lol? I think I'll go ahead and perform the soapy water test to put my mind at ease....

@d-cuttler thanks for the info on the QA issues and the fix. Good that you had a lathe on hand. Besides the problem you ran into what do you think about the material and design..safe? Did yours come with a burst disk?

It appears to be very rugged, and I have no fear of it coming apart.

Regarding a burst disk, it does not have one, and considering that the compressor has a burst disk, having one in the filter would seem redundant.

I cannot overstate the amount of time and money that small lathe has saved me. It's paid for itself many times over the years. I can't envision ever not having one.

Hey d-cuttler,

I have a question you might know the answer for. Do you know what is the purpose/functionality of this part in the photo I've attached here? It says explosion-proof valve but was wondering if you could elaborate? does yours have one ? is there anything I need to do/ look out for with this thing as far as you know? thanks a bunch

Mine are from AliExpress. They are stainless steel of good quality and are only a couple of bucks each. The flow direction for this type of fitting is always from the male foster side to the thread side. The Male to male fitting can be flipped to flow in what direction you desire. I use the DIn 300 type to attach to my 6.8 L bottles and the M-M at the pump outlet. With this setup, I can interrupt the filling process at any time without losing pressure in the filter and line. I've found these cheap fittings to be very effective and reliable.

Thanks for the tips. I will relook at the AliExpress option. I had a bad experience about 10 years ago when I was new in PCP. A filling hose I bought on Ebay blew up on me at about 1500 psi. Sounded like a shot. I promised myself not to skimp on HPA fittings and hoses again.

I just last week had a chinese hose explode at 3500psi while hand pumping my Avenger. Sounded like a hand grenade and put 14 stitches in my thigh. My hearing is still slightly muffled from the blast. I don't know for sure what failed first, but I suspect the female brass QD fitting. Do most of you use brass foster fittings? Should I try to find a hose with a steel foster fitting instead?

Holly s**t! You are lucky! Yes, do not use any fittings that you are not sure of. Not worth your life, eyes, limbs, etc.

I went to this place about 10 years ago: https://www.northshorecompressor.com/categories/Accessories/Paintball-Accessories/

But, if I were you, I would just start a new thread an ask for inputs where to get your fittings/hoses.  Many use Joe Brancato but maybe a bit pricier than other equally good options.

Yes I was lucky. I was in the middle of the downstroke when instantly the pump was no longer in my hands, I couldn't hear and knew something had hit the inside back of my thigh. I couldn't tell how badly I was injured, but slapped a sterile bandage on it and wrapped it in a bath towel I picked up off the floor. Sorry for the graphics.

Holy Moses! this s***t is no joke. I'm sorry that this had happened to you dholder, thanks for sharing. This looks like the exact same generic hose that came with my Spritech orange compressor. Funny thing is, I actually started a thread here a couple of weeks ago asking for an extra long hose recommendation as I just did not trust this one. Now I'm definitely placing an order for the "No Kink Flexible Hose - 5000psi" for $60 from AOA. As others here already mentioned, sometimes the extra buck is worth the piece of mind. Be well.
