Received the Yong Heng Compressor today

As the title says, got the compressor today. I spent a lot of hours researching and trying to make sure I didn't end up with a fake, before ordering. Tho they may all come from the same place anyways. I searched the forums trying to see where folks bought theirs from, but everything I found went to dead links. So rolled the dice on a eBay seller. This seller had been around several years, so I felt more comfortable with this one then the created accounts in 2020-2021. I think I got a genuine one. Even had the manufacturers plate on it. But it does say "Yongyiheng Pneumatic Co". Anyways I'm only posting so that maybe it helps someone else and saves them some time trying to find a legitimate seller. Havent tested yet. Need to get some oil. https://www.ebay.com/itm/YONG-HENG-High-Pressure-Air-Compressor-Pump-30Mpa-4500PSI-Electric-Air-Pump-PCP-/303745327477?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286

there are 4 model of the yong heng. Your seem to be the normal (also call hardcover). it doesnt have the auto stop so make sure you watch the gauge at all times. many ppl like the non auto stop. idk why. I prefer the auto stop. Stop at whatever pressure u set to. People fear letting it stop vs manual stopping it will destroy the compressor lol. Been using the auto stop for 2 years and havent blow up yet. imo if it gonna destory the compressor with auto stop, the manufacture wouldnt put it in there in the first place.

well grats on your new compressor. It will serve you well. What oil did u get for it? I used royal purple.

Great that you got your compressor. Good that it has the cyclone waster/oil separator as it's really needed. Just starting out with them can be difficult. Here is a little info I have put together to help you on your way.

Edited and Current 3/21

Here is my standard post to all things Yong Heng hope it is helpful.

The Yong Heng "Simple" version least expensive does not have a water separator you need one.

The "Auto Stop" version shuts off near 3000psi probly not a good thing for most people.

So you likely want the "Hardcover" or "Set Pressure" versions your choice on the 110V or 220V.

Never start them under pressure. I should have put this in here sooner.

Give them a dedicated 15amp outlet 20 would be better. They draw a bit of juice on start up especially the brand new ones. Don’t Use an extension cord unless it is short and has an honest 15+ amp rating. Preferably 12ga wire so you will not have problems.

Keep them cool and filled with oil. ISO 46 may no longer be recommended although I used it for a year without failure. I am currently using the Husky Brand Synthetic or synthetic blend oil, found at Home Depot, for two years now without a problem. Top it off to the red circle in the sight glass.

Don't push your air fill past the compressor’s spec which is 4350psi. A little less is usually better than the max, and the Yong Heng should last for years unless you get a bad one.

I did my first oil change at about an hour, it was extremely dark colored. I went far longer, between changes, after that.

I have two YH compressors bought the second as a backup for the first as I, fergot to turn on the coolant pump several times and, overheated it until it smoked. It did not like it but it continued to run just fine. Still I did not trust it after that. I added a switched outlet, to the system, so it turns the pump on before the compressor will power up to keep me from doing that from now on.

The second one, my back up unit, died in about two months bad QC from the factory. Cost me $12 for a new second stage piston and an hours’ time to replace it. Then to add insult to injury I fergot to put oil in, the latest unit after I put it back together, and ran it for a couple of minutes without any. So I filled it with oil and it fired up and somehow still werqs fine. The #1 unit that I was worried about, cuz I overheated it so many times, just kept on filling my guns and tanks till I got #2 repaired and retired it.

I do not fill past 4200psi as when I do, all too often, I blow a burst disc. This may not happen on the first or second fill but soon thereafter it will.

The temperature sensor only measures head temperature so running it much over 20-30 minutes can overheat the motor and other parts even if ice is used in the coolant. Ice or a container of it, in the coolant, is a good idea especially if you are like me and do not use the full five gallons of water as suggested in the manual.

Keep your water supply level with the compressor to be kind to the pump and assure a good supply of coolant goes through the compressor.

I recently started using this Red Line water treatment after I noticed algae growth in my 2.5 gallon water bucket every few months. It seems to have stopped or significantly slowed the algae growth. I will know more in a few months.

Keep your moisture filters, guns and tanks being filled above the compressor to help keep the moisture out.

Purge the system of moisture, using the screw valves on both sides of the compressor, for a couple of seconds every five minutes while in use.

Change out your small YH filter every twenty minutes and set the old one out to dry and reuse later.

Add a better filter if needed to be sure more moisture and any oil smell is removed from the system. Many of us use this Tuxing three media filter although, if you feel the need, you can change media types at any time.

A smaller one will probly do for some.

Possibly a filter similar to this if humidity is high in your area and your desiccant filters have to be replaced often.

Bleed the pressure before you turn the unit off and let it run a few seconds to get the better part of the moisture out of the system. I have found that I blow less burst discs if I bleed before shutting down so I do this religiously.

Let the coolant pump run for a few minutes after shutdown to cool things off.

Info on the radiator install.

ImpactX, I'll try to find the royal purple locally. I think O'Reillys Auto sells it. I should of ordered some when I ordered compressor, but kept putting it off. Also need the foster adapter to connect to my hatsan. I just went with the hardcover with the mindset less stuff to break. I figured I will replace the gauge at some point with something I trust more, so wasn't too concerned about the auto shutoff. But I do appreciate the tips!

Good find! I am very curious about how this YH works for you as I may want to get one my self from this seller. Thanks!

I started with Royal Purple in mine and put over 12 hours on it with that. I did just switch over to Husky full synthetic compressor oil (available at Home Depot). I like that the Husky oil is clear and I don't have to order it. Biohazardman is correct - the Yong Heng gauges are junk. I am on my second gauge. First one lost accuracy then failed completely; second one is off by 500psi. "If" I replace the current gauge (I rely on tank's gauges), it will be with a better quality gauge and remotely mounted via a fill line to save it from the YH's vibration.

Steve, I was looking at a Walmart seller that had them on "clearance" for around $250ish, but the reviews that said the buyers received something other then pictures, didn't give me a lot of confidence. The 4 year warranty would've been nice tho.I message the seller I bought from on eBay and they confirmed they were genuine yong heng and I'd receive one just like the pics. EBay doesn't mess around with inad cases, so felt comfortable buying from the seller.

Tracker, thanks for info about how you used the adapter and installed a different gauge. That, and a water/oil filter, will be my two 1st upgrades.

Nightvision, welcome. I'm new too. I haven't even been able to shoot what I have. Waiting on an adapter to go from hatsan fill probe to compressor. It got lost in the mail and ordered another. I can tell you what I have invested so far.

Hatsan flashpup .25 for $415 from Utah Airguns. Got it in about 5 days after ordering.

Bushnell Nitro scope for $225 from MidwayUSA. Received in 2 days (I live about 3 hours away)

Yong heng compressor for $250 from above link. Took about 5 days.

3 tins of pellets from Airguns of Arizona for $63. About 5 days.

3 tins of pellets from New England Airguns for $62. About 6 days.

Each (2) fill probe adapter for $15 ea. Still waiting (different sellers on eBay) -_-

Cvlife bipod from eBay for $18. Bout 5 days.

And had to order another airgun because they were back in stock and cheaper then anywhere else I found. The hatsan airmax ,25 for $630 from MidwayUSA. Should be here today, 2 day shipping.

About $1700 so far. Should be more than enough to get started with my kids and I. Hope to add a 6l cf tank for around $300 from acecare, and a oil/moisture filter for $100-200.

If you're looking to get into, that gives a rough idea of the setup I was going for. You of course can get into it much cheaper. I opted to skip the handpumps BC everything I read, the handpumps just pushed others to get a compressor eventually anyways. Scope is over kill, could've probably gotten by with a $50 one. Didn't need to buy 2 guns, but didn't want to try hunting squirrels with just 1 gun between 4 of us (I have .22 powderburners but sick of hunting for ammo and saving what I have). And springers would for sure cut the cost down more. May add a couple at some point.

Hopefully that helps in regards to cost. Of course everyone is different and YMMV. Whatever you choose, hope you enjoy it!

So far I’ve been looking at a lot of options and have the mindset of spend once cry once because I usually research and over think things. So…

I have the new Kalibrgun Cricket 2 Tactical on order from Charles Frear. I wanted a good scope (because I’ve gone cheaper in the past for my .22 powder burners and have been sadly disappointed) and I ended up getting a Bushnell Match Pro 6x24-50. Ordered signature high rings. I’m looking into getting a Harris bipod but they are out of the notched legs at the moment.
I need to get in touch with my local fire department and see if they will fill tanks before I get a scba tank but I’m still planning on getting a compressor. Unfortunately the choices I see that are reasonably priced all seem like they are mass purchases from China and branded by xyz. Which is fine as long as there is support after the sale. I’m not afraid to take one completely down and repair/rebuild as long as parts are readily available. (I hate going to the stockroom at work and finding out some genius decided we only need one widget to stock but the machine requires two and the parts come from overseas with minimum lead time of 6 weeks! And to make matters worse, we have 10 identical machines that require the widget!) 🤭

I am hopeful to find a semi dependable unit that can give me hours of fun! If not, I have a young grandson that has too much energy that will gladly run the hand pump that I got off ebay! 😂

Then you're in the $2k price range!

A diving compressor is a buy once and cry once thing. You buy, you cry and then it will run for the next 20+ years with little maintenance and no breaks at all. And resell value is there too, not like a YH brick that went from spent money to zero in a day!

"not like a YH brick that went from spent money to zero in a day!"

Except for those "YH bricks" that are still working several years later😃. You have an opinion. Others have experiences that differ with that opinion. Mine have, do, and always will because MY money was well invested in the YH, which has served me well for well over 2 years now. As has been said before, "opinions vary".
