RE: THE PASSING of Pcpwannabe (Art) Any forum members near Quakertown, PA.?

Any empathetic, TRUSTWORTHY members in or near Quakertown, Pa.?

I've been in touch with Art's daughter & she will be trying to liquidate the THOUSANDS of $ worth of equipment Art bought before succumbing to brain cancer. Nancy (Art's daughter) knows next to nothing about airguns & related equipment let alone what it's worth, how to pack it for shipping, WHO & WHERE to go to sell it, etc. She happened to get in touch with me after noticing a couple PM's between Art & myself here on the forum. We are on opposite ends of the country but I told her I'd do what I could to help her. I'm HOPING she can find members LOCAL to her area to sell stuff without having to deal with the PACK & SHIP P.I.A.! I'll be getting pictures & what receipts she has shortly so I can help her figure out a plan. I know there's a Taipan Veteran (.22 I'm pretty sure, ONLY shot once!), one or two good optics, FX chrony, Great White tank & a zillion other peripherals involved, but until I find exactly what she has I'm feeling out the situation CLOSE TO HER. For now you can PM me if interested. Art ordered MOST of this stuff while in hospice care, hoping to beat the odds I guess. I feel bad his family's stuck because of bad decisions made at a bad time. I waited to post this until I could verify it is legit & it is.

I'd hate for my wife to be in that situation. She knows what to do should something suddenly happen to me. Unfortunately Art couldn't think that far ahead. Please help if you can

Unfortunately we are going to see this situation more and more. I live around an hour away from Quakertown ( near Phila). I've also sold stuff for others in similar situations and it's pretty difficult do sell some airgun things. It's difficult because on the one hand you want to sell things for as much as you can get but on the other you are selling stuff to your friends so you want to give them a good deal. We have airgun shooters at our club and run matches, etc. so there may be an opportunity to move some things.

Another issue is that people don't even know what they have and you really need an inventory list to at least get started.

That said, if you want my help pm me at [email protected].

Taipan Veteran Long .22 - $1895 +shipping

Decked out Great White w/fill - $849

FX Chronyb - $199

Range Finder - $69

(For those mathematically challenged it's $3012 + tax and shipping)

Art reportedly fired 1 pellet, not 1 tin, but a single pellet. Air tank and chrony likely not used and the range finder still in box.

What would YOU give her for the above package?

I honestly don't know how some guys sleep at night. I wonder what ART thinks about AGN members now?

To the AGN member who bought it, that was SHAMEFUL!

BTW - Here are Nancy's exact words - "I know I messed up, I quoted a price before realizing how much was paid for the tank and house, v I'm disgusted a little"

I always remember this saying about how Character is judged- "It's not what you do when others are around it's what you do when no one else is around"

Hey Brian ( @bvan ) I'd really like to hear your side of this. I mean I'd like to know how you could give a woman who's Dad just died from brain cancer $1350 for OVER $3000 in BRAND NEW stuff. I mean how does one's conscience allow them to do this? He charged that stuff a Credit Card and now the family will likely lose the mobile home he was living in due a lien being placed on it.

OK BTB here is my side,

Nancy said she had receipts for everything she had then gave me a price for the items I was interested in via a text. A couple of days later I went to visit her. I asked if she was still good with the price she gave me. She said she was ok with it. I picked out some other items and offered her a price on them. She agreed. We talked some more then I left. Then I get a AGN PM from you saying how I took advantage. I then see this post on this thread where you come at me again. I reached out to Nancy and mentioned I was being accused of taking advantage of her. I said to her if you feel I have, I can return everything. She said “No worries”.

Did she recently go through losing her father to a brain tumor, yes.

Did she offer me a price, yes.

Did I get a good deal, yes.

Did I offer to return the items if she felt cheated, yes.

Did she want the items back, no.

There now you have it.

Fair enough.

Her texts tell me her Dad told her to sell for 70% of what he paid, and that she initially agreed to 50% of what he paid for you to buy everything, but then you wanted to go 50% of best internet price of only those 4 items, and she reluctantly agreed to sell you those items at the $1350 price not realizing what he had paid for the tank and hose.

I have another text in to her and if she replies that what you have posted is truth and that she is satisfied I will post letting everyone know.

In reference to me "coming at you again", sorry you feel that way, but just an answer to my PM would have avoided this.

She ABSOLUTELY knew what her dad paid for stuff because she sent me copies of receipts BEFORE any of you other guys were even aware of the situation. I think (maybe) she wanted $ NOW! IF she really said she was unaware of what Art paid I don't understand why she would misrepresent how things went down. Maybe she was embarrassed to admit that SHE let it go for less than she could have. Once I got receipts I told her what EVERYTHING retails for & what selling price should be. If she was okay with letting it go for less that's HER responsibility. I wasn't there & didn't witness it so I won't make moral judgements on anyone involved. I'm educating my wife on the value of my stuff should something happen to me. She also knows who to call. Nancy was totally in the dark & I wanted to help in what ways I could. Hope that helps clear things up & casting aspersions on other's character is now DONE!

Sounds like you did nothing wrong. Many can get emotional over a situation like this and overreact.

Gerry,

If you notice my first post I used the word "realized" and not "KNEW". Two totally different things, especially if one is unfamiliar with the items they are selling.

Anyway Nancy did reply back to me this morning. In order to not make it appear as though I am "casting aspersions" upon anyone on the forum I will not post it publicly

Her true feeling were not "No worries", but I'll just leave it at that.

You guys have a great time here on the forum, I'm done.

"In order to not make it appear as though I am "casting aspersions" upon anyone"

Hard to "uncast" what has already been "cast". Yes, this is a sad situation for his family. IMO, the buyer did what he could when he offered to return the purchased items. And the responsibility on accepting (or not) the purchase lies entirely with the seller. The difference between "knew" and "realized" seems to be tenuous in this case-copies of receipts seems to speak volumes here.

In my conversations with her she both KNEW & REALIZED what the items the items cost her father & what they would be worth to resell. IMHO it's TOTALLY up to her what she let them go for. Again, I just wanted to help expedite the process for her. Sorry if it upsets anyone but I've fulfilled my responsibility in an honest & caring way & am at peace with my Maker for the intent & manner in which it was carried out. I both REALIZE & now KNOW that even the kindest, most sincere of actions carry UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES!!! I wish all involved PEACE in their hearts & with EACH OTHER.
