re-enforced my red wolf stock

after reading & seeing numerous pictures of red wolf / and now safari rifles with broken stocks at the wrist i got nervous. decided it's time to do something pro active for my serie rosso. i turned a piece of steel pipe. .925" OD. .835" ID. 4.250" long. made the relief cut outs for the wires. epoxied the tube into the stock. turned out pretty good i think. i feel better now.

Scott in Wisconsin.

The carbon fiber insert was mine, what concerns me about metal (probably unjustified) is shorting or even cutting/chafing of the wires.

The other problem is that this fix only works with the older guns, the GCU2 and 3S LIPO 11.1V is a very tight fit in the wrist hole and does not use the O rings, even with 1mm carbon tube it will not fit.

Hi Nomo, my gunsmith has a jig set up on his lathe, he uses an air driven high speed diamond circular saw, around 2" diameter blade and very very thin (about 30,000 RPM from memory), we lucked out with the tube it is an almost perfect fit with a few thousandths clearance to allow a gap for the epoxy.

The exact tube dimensions are, OD 23.4mm (after minor flatting) wall thickness 1.18mm, it came from the bay as KATANA 24mm OD tube 22mm ID.

The cutouts were done on the mill with a fresh sharp ball mill to prevent splintering and then carefully sanded, carbon tube can be very difficult to cut well as you obviously know.

If you want further info or dimensions let me know.
