Tuning RAW & Theoben plenum find

I found something quite interesting on eBay recently. It appears to be a plenum for these air rifles. I don’t know if the threading on both Rapids and HM (HMX) are the same, but it seems to be promising especially for “HM” platforms in .22 and .25.

The pic I posted goes in the valve area just above where the bottle fits and right south of the barrel.

I spoke to Martin just before the pandemic hit. We spoke about doing a hot tune on my .22 HM1000 (non X model) and to regulate it at the same time. He mentioned that he could use the valve with more plenum space such as found on the current HMX models which Airforce is handling now.

Due to the pandemic, I decided to hold off for now. I like the idea of finding space above the bottle instead of where the blanking plug resides. I purchased the HUMA reg earlier this year which is smaller than the OEM reg. This will give me some small real estate back for more “plenum” space.

Pehaps the ticket to achieve maximum plenum space and at the same time keeping the stock looking untouched is a shorter version of the plenum which one of the members here posted a little while back. The stock could be milled, but not cut all the way through. This in combo with the HUMA reg and the larger valve from the newer HMX models may achieve higher speeds for some of the heavier pellets out there.

Hello Umair,

Yes, I recall your post a little while ago. I value your creativity and perseverance. I however can’t get past the plenum poking through the stock. I added a quick fill to my Superten and that made the foster fill poke through the stock.

Only if there was a way to have the plenum parallel to the receiver instead of perpendicular.
