Wow there's a lot of reading here!!! Lol

I'm picking up my first R.A.W this afternoon!
Trading my last FX for her!!! 😉
It's in like new condition... been sitting in a safe most of it's life but that's about to change!
It's a .30 cal and pre Air Force!

Absolutely Beautiful Gun!!
Love that darker look on the Walnut - also fancy grain pattern relative to most RAW Walnut offerings.

I've recently been working on a new, unfinished RAW stock from Martin. I tried to stain mine darker than normal and got it a little too dark. Still applying more tung oil and should be finalized in about 1 week. I wanted to Classic look on my RAW HM1000x LRT in addition to my Green & Red Laminate stocks.

1) I understand all caliber RAW's now use the largest receiver size (the .357). And apparently this makes it difficult to find aftermarket magazines that will fit. I was looking at the Brocock Muzzle Brake, which I believe will thread on quite nicely. Is there any reason I should not be considering a muzzle brake for my RAW ? I realize they may do absolutely nothing beneficial, and theoretically might even have a negative effect on accuracy. But, I sure would like to try to make my rifle a wee bit better looking. :)


4) I hope to install a typical sling-swivel stud in the LRT stock at the butt. Has anyone already done this successfully ? Anything I should be aware of with this particular stock with the minor drilling involved ?

Hope that's not too darn many questions all at once. But, I AM rather excited about it. I've wanted a Theoben Rapid ever since I first saw them in the 1990's. I figure it's now or never for me ! LoL !

Anyways, thanks for reading, and a double thanks to any replies you may have to offer. This wonderful Forum has helped me very much on this quest so far. And I have a feeling these won't be the last questions from me.

Gerry, congratulations! Like igolf said above the newer breech is large enough for single shot loading. I have an old X model with the smaller breech and I use the OEM single shot donut. I think you could measure your magazine with cailpers and CARM could make you their swing out version. I don't know Canada's laws but would a baffeled shroud be considered a silincer? If not, you could get someone to make you one. I hope your build arrives sooner than expected!

Congratulations! Very beautiful stock! I have the same older conventional LDC on mine...tames the report quite well on my .22. Enjoy shooting it!

Good to hear I won't need to pull the barrel off- no need for QR scope rings after all. Yay!

And also happy to hear no single shot tray is needed with the large receiver. Still bummed about the price of factory spare magazines.....but here's hoping one of the 3-D printer folks adapts their magazine shortly! (wink-wink).

I'd be thrilled to have a shroud on the barrel. But no, in Canada they are incredibly strict. Nothing that in any way reduces the sound is permitted. I am pretty sure Daystate makes a special "empty" barrel shroud for the CDN market. But even that would have had to been pre-approved by the national police force. Not worth the risk of having my rifle seized. So, a muzzle brake seems my best (only) solution to the odd looking, pencil barrel hanging off the large gun. Hopefully it won't be loud enough to require ear protection! (It's a .22.)

I actually emailed AirForce about paying for a rear sling stud. A nice customer service rep replied that is not something offered.

If I had my choice, I'd have ordered from Martin direct, or maybe a 3rd party like SPAW, but the export/import nightmare just makes that very unappealing, to say the least. So, I am kinda limited in my options to get my dream rifle.

Not sure if I'll want to eventually risk drilling the laminate myself for the stud. I am no wood worker is putting it mildly. Perhaps I'll hit the weight room, so i can carry that big boy while hunting. Hahaha!

Gerry, you could always get a Chassis for it and remove the butt stock and have a gigantic pistol to walk with....LOL!

Tim, I did not know that. I fill slowly, but sometimes fill faster than I should to finish a card. Good to know

I have 2 RAW's both HM1000X
my .30 call is in an old style charcoal LRT stock, and my
.22 was a charcoal sporter stock, which I modified staining it brown and reshaping the trigger guard to match the LRT open trigger style.
Then I bought the BM stock in Buckskin,

I just added some pictures last night of the BM stock.

I drop them off to Mark Buchanon.
He was the western rep for RAW years ago and does an excellent job on maximizing the RAW platform.
He did the tune on both my RAW's originally and they are now visiting him again along with an old Air Arms Pro Target that needs resealed and tuned up.

In also have a couple SSP airguns both are Baikal, an IZH46 and an extremely rare MP532 which is a rifle version of the Izzie.

Assorted past guns are
AA S510 Ultimate Sporter with Lane regulator (sold to pay for the .22 RAW)
AA Pro Sport
FX Royal 500 walnut, and
FX Crown .30 walnut (sold to pay for the .30 RAW)

Of course that is just my airguns.
