HI Sean,

Actually the action I already had however the stock is new.

It was a .22 polybarreled HM1000x (this is one of the ones Mark tuned) and now it has the BM stock to make it more competitive in Bench rest.



Now if the shooter would just get just as good.

Mark B tuned RAW are the best. The upgrades he puts into RAW guns are very futuristic and make these guns very efficient. 

Mark B was the man behind the success of RAW as I understand. 

Further he is an extremely nice person.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mark in person this summer, while on a business trip to his neighborhood. I came away very impressed with Mark’s knowledge-he and I hit things off very well. He does know the RAW product and airguns in general very very well.

Yeah Mark mentioned you guys have talked.

He had some good thing to say about you as well.

Very smart man, he and I talk for hours when we get together. 

His tuning is extremely good, and I am glad he and I met a couple years back, before I owned any RAW's.

He let me shoot a customers .30 RAW and it is what led me to buying RAW's when I could afford some.

As you said nice guy as well.

You are so right, the year has really flown by. 

You have had a very busy year with the move. Are you still down in Casa Grande?

Yeah it's been extremely busy. We eventually bought a place in Marana instead. Great new neighborhood that is being built. Very good for the kids.

I am about to join the quail creek airgun club. Range is about 45min away. They got free tank refills there. It's about 20 min from my work. I have to work nights so I do have to shoot during the day. I am about to unpack the .30 today. I havent seen it since I moved. I can practice 25 yds in the back of my house. So a range is needed for me now. I do miss the 100yds I had in Hawaii. But overall I love it here. Weather is great and I am about to find out how hard the wind in az is to read. I do need to decide on a competition gun though if I plan on shooting at some of these events they have. It will be a fun experience.

Marana is a growing community and looks to be doing it right.

my understanding is Quail Creek A.G.C. is growing as well. Looks like they have quite a few matches going on.

Worst case you could always buy a .22 poly barrel for your .30 and tune it down to 35 ft. lbs. and shoot open.

The pain is you need to change the regulated pressure, but it is doable if you do not want to buy a whole new gun.



I should have gone out shooting today as there was a match at Rio Salado today, but I just got back in town and have a lot to do this weekend including getting used to the new stock.

the first thing i changed on the RAW benchrest stock was a bolt thru the handle, they break easily

the 2nd thing i changed was the trigger guard area



3ed i shortened the butt stock

They seam to have picked up on the breakages. Mine actually came with a through bolt already done to it.

I like what you did with the trigger guard area, I hate when the guard rubs up against my trigger finger which the BM definitely does.

Hence why I asked them to not finish coat the stock.

I am sure I will change it, but I want to give it a chance before cutting up a very expensive stock.

Here is the first real group with this stock.

It does make it easier especially compared to the sporter stock that was on the action.

25 meters 5 shots, CTC. .11 inches. 3 shots same exact hole 0.0 inches.





After this group I spent a little more time zeroing the scope so the .15" too high went away.

Although I need to invest in some 1/8 MOA turrets for my Hawke as there is always a tiny bit of hold over or under I have to do with reticle.

Nice day today (46F!) so I hung my target holder at 100 yards and decided to quickly shoot some groups in the wind. I shot my .25 cal polygon barrel with JSB Heavies, Mk I, with west winds 9 mph out of the west (left to right).

First the target hanger:





Then some groups @ 100 yards (well, actually 101 yards from where I was seated, but who'se counting, LOL): Not too shabby given the wind. The 0.34" group was when I was sighting things in, when the wind died down-they were falling into the same hole. Then, of course, the wind would pick up (as you can see by the two shots low to the right (left to right cross wind with a head wind element to it). Still, for a quick session I'm happy as it was relativly routine shooting under 1" at 100 yards.

Strever, I know that stock... looks like it worked out well for you!, I think I’m shortening my BM stock about 2”? terrymc my brand new BM-500 came directly from Martin with a pin up through the pistol grip too!, didn’t even notice it till about a week later?, never a mention of this on invoice, or any verbal communication or extra warranty info, etc. that was a little disappointing! Curious if all BM stocks after certain date were automatically pinned as a precaution?

Mine came with a pin/bolt through it also.

Interesting!, well that answers my question... I also have another unique problem and I’ve debated on mentioning it on this forum until I’ve talked to Martin ( if that’s possible anymore? ) but I cannot remove action from stock?, the only thing I can deduce is the epoxy from pinning stock wasn’t completely cured when they bolted action into stock? But haven’t wanted to pry or exert to much force in doing so as not to break or damage something! Gun is shooting very well, in essence might be epoxy bedded?

I just talked to the vp of the club yesterday. Apparently the club is under some renovation as we speak. The monsoon season in tucson hit us bad this year. I honestly cant confirm that since it's been my first summer here. It did rain quite bit. Apparently there are some avid shooters in the club. Guys that's there 4 to 5 days a week. Supposedly alot ot these guys shoot raws. Vp did say it is one of nicer airguns range in the u.s. I cant confirm that since I haven't been to one. My first taste of competition shooting. Vp is nice a guy. He will share any info he knows. Seems like everyone in az knows of mark b. Especially when talking about raw rifles.
