RAW REPORT

So i got home early from work today and decided to take the .20 out and shoot it some more. Slightly breezy about 5-7mph wind,,,,this gun consistently shoots tiny tiny 5 shot groups,,,,impressing the hell out of me how consistent it is. My best 5 shot group measured 1/4" edge to edge outside diameter,,,50 yds. Ive had some shooters in my day but this rifle may take the cake. Officially naming her "The Blue Beast",,,,lol. I'm all smiles here with this bad mama jama. Pics or it didn't happen right?!?!?!

These are just 2 of the groups i shot today but it will give you an idea of how it shoots at 50yds. The orange circle is 3/4" so you have a comparison.

I flipped the one group over so i can measure it better and its just wider than a pellet that I'm shooting,,,,, The Blue Beast is a Lazer Beam!

They create such beautiful works of art and yours is no exception. It is stunning. What brand of pellets?

MISTER AX ,would you mind posting a photo of the beautiful walnut stock you own on your RAW ,i took a look its very nice ,hope all you guys stay for more info sharing ,we got a great core bunch and most welcome any insight you guys have,,PAT

@kdog, Keith, gorgeous gun, BEAUTIFUL! Coincidentally, I recently a few weeks ago bought a used .20 cal. barrel and shroud assembly for my TM1000. I adjusted it to about 860 fps, since the previous owner said that was the most accurate speed (HST all the way in went to about 870 fps). Yes, I know its greater than 20 fpe shooting the 13.73 JSB Exacts. Still not sure which one is more accurate, the .177 at 900 fps with the 10.3 JSB Exact or the .20. I'm going to shoot the .20 at the 50 yard BR event at EBR. Will probably get killed with all the guys shooting the 50 FPE 25 grain .22 new Monsters in their RAWs and Red Wolfs (Wolves?). But it'll be fun to probably be the only guy there shooting .20 cal. ;) If by some chance its not windy I'll be competitive, but what are the chances of that in AZ???

CENTERCUT give em heck ,and good luck at EBR, im sure you will do well ,relax ,picture your back yard ,,would love to see a photo of your RAW ,when you get back, been following all your posts here,,i love the knowledge and insight you bring, hope you will give us some updates ,on your RAW TM PAT

Yeah, that's insane: that's a 0.050" 5 shot group at 50 yards! Did I mention that I love 0.20 caliber? You're making me think long and hard about maybe going .20 cal for my BR setup when I get an action to go into my stock...

Sean

Sean what really gets me is when the pellet is .20 that's only 5/100th bigger than the pellet and that's the groups outside diameter....did I mention it was breezy 😀. This is my first .20 but if there all like this that would be crazy. Regular LW barrel no fancy poly or anything. Speed is 800fps.

Don’t be fooled, the LW-12 groove barrels are fantastic w/ the lighter jsb pellets! My 12 groove regularly outshoots my poly’s... its the wind that kills you with that combo( lighter pellets/12 groove profile in skirt & head of pellet) honestly if I do my part reading the flags etc. 12 groove 10.5 vs. poly 13.4 the former is my choice for anything 30m or less! Maybe I got lucky with my barrel? If you go to my starting postal matches post in this section you can see some of those groups, Chas also shot some groups and posted

Threads gone a little stale so I decided to mix things up and investigate something that hasn’t been reported yet: power/velocity changes with hammer spring tension. I put my .30 cal barrel back on and shot JSB lites at the lowest setting, and then turn up the tension in 1/2 turn increments until I maxed out, shooting ~5 shot groups over the chrony to see changes in muzzle velocity. Will post the results once I have a chance to process them.

When done with that, I also remapped the BC of the 3 .30 cal pellets I have at the lowest and highest HS settings to see how the BC changes with velocity. Temp is about the same between tests, though humidity and pressure are pretty different. Will post those findings too.

Lastly, I have data to show how muzzle velocity changes over a wide range of temps (~40F up to 97F) ao I should be able to box out the range of power adjustments in .30 cal setting and plot that too.

Oh, and I am starting to really like the JSB heavies in .30 caliber...

Stay tuned!

Here's the plot of Hammer Spring Tension vs. Velocity (muzzle and 1 yard) and Energy (@ 1 yard):

Shooting the JSB .30 cal heavies at 865 fps muzzle velocity yields 83 fpe. Man does it smack steel spinners hard! I get about 24 shots on this power setting. In contrast, when setup to ahoot the JSB Lites at 840 fps, I got about 40 shots per fill.

I’m now curious about ahooting the .25 cal JSB Heavies Mk I at 950-ish fps...

Pat,

RAW LDC ADAPTERS FROM DONNY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I'm ready to purchase 2 as soon as I can. I'll have to figure out which cans I want to get for the .25 and .30 cal's.

Thanks Pat! Yes, that is a 'real' Atlast bipod-I finally splurged and bought a PSR model after waiting for a CAL version and cancelling my order due to the wait on their redesign. Let me know how you like the Hawke FFP scopes-I still like mine a lot.

Yeah, the DonnyFL adapters should really help quiet down the bark on the RAWs-especially on the .30 cal now that I've got mine shooting at 83 ft-lbs of energy (it got a bit louder, LOL).
