Finished up my buddies new arrival, suppressed 25m comp rifle, added new trigger, engraving, tune and 6 coats of poly to seal the deal. 1st cards shot 743-31x. Not bad for “not my rifle”... Vince your gonna love this!!

"Hynzie"wow that stock is a real eye catcher, engraving came out really nice i hear its not the easiest thing to do with the laminate being stacked together,,i just bought 4 foster fill caps off e bay they are nice black metal with 4 ball bearings inside that hold them on nice and snug $ 5,95 each if interested MICHEAL posted a thread in the classifieds seeking caps and another member responded with the info to this sight,Another blizzard early next week that will make 4 inside of 3 weeks ,,,its getting old...HYNZIE
You can have the white stuff Pat, I’m finally starting to see grass and the last snow storm missed us and stayed to the south.

"terrymc"
"Imold"Have I mentioned that I like Blue.
Me too.
Thats why this is my next project.

I have always had the attitude that if someone else can do it, I should be able to also.
Maybe not as fast but I can eventually do it.
That is a Spyderco Mule Team PMA11 blade sticking out the end.
Get that handle done so we can see it in it’s finish form, should be nice for sure.

My EDC is a Benchmade Osborne 940.
Also got some shooting in today with the HMx 357 and then checked out my property and the snow is just about gone to the point I can get out to the range area and do some real shooting also went and looked at the pre manufactured home we would like to buy and talked to them about wood color change in the kitchen and putting in a corner fireplace rather then a wall type, next year cant get here soon enough.

"crgabel"Terry,
Is that maple burl?

Shokwood says it is Buckeye Burl.

It will be interesting to see how it comes out when I give it a nice flowing shape and
polish the scales.

I have decent EDC knives not my most expensive knives but this one will be my project knife.
Fantastic carbon steel PMA11 which is the same as CPM 10V and a set of scales I did myself.

"crgabel"Sean,
Reply only after spending time with your family from your trip.
Hope that your visit to bike week went well. The big question is how was your visit with Ken.
Was the Donnyfl unit quiet?
Craig
Craig,

I’m in flight right now on my way home, so I can reply now...

I stopped by and met Ken in person on my way to JAX this morning. As you already know, Ken is a super nice guy, and was very hospitable in person as well. Ken has a great range at his house, with multiple concrete table top shooting stations and had two other RAW owners there shooting (Chris and Vince)-also super nice guys as well!

Ken let me shoot two of his RAWs-one in .25 polygon with the DonnyFL installed (more in a moment), the other was his National winning setup for BR (25m gun). Both super accurate and really nice to shoot (I was putting pellets through the same exact hole with the 25m gun-really nice!).

I wanted to see how the standard length BR stock would fit me before putting in my order, and got my questions answered while there. I also wanted to pick up a Crown Saver pull through as a gift for my buddy, now that he is a RAW owner as well-so I grabbed that too.

While shooting, I got to use Ken’s rest-what a fantastic unit! I will have to get one if I start shooting BR competitively!

Really a nice time.

Now onto your question regarding the DonnyFL: I was able to shoot it on the .25 cal polygon (60 fpe) setup and can confirm it is definitely quieter than my standard moderator, for sure! It’s hard to convey through wording what the comparison is like, but it reminds me of some of the AZ guns I’m heard in the past-though that comparison isn’t fair, because those guns were .177 cal putting out like 16-20 fpe (so they were quieter-but not by much). In all, it was a definite upgrade to the stock moderator.

I don’t want to speak on Ken’s behalf, so i will leave the details to Ken to share. The setup is in prototype phase at the moment, while Ken and Donny figure out the best overall way to finish the product.

At first, I was concerned that the Donny added a bunch of length to the gun-because it is installed on a modified version of the stock moderator. But before I could even ask, Ken pointed out that the stock mod was shortened considerably, and then the Donny installed on the end. He estimated that the overall length was perhaps about 2” longer than stock-which could be shortened by screwing on a different Donny model.

As with any prototype development, Ken was in the testing phase and working on optimizing the design for best overall performance. I think it will end up being a very nice unit when it is complete.

Please take my numbers and comments as totally ‘unofficial’ as there’s a good chance I didn’t get everything correct (Ken: feel free to modify / revise anything I’ve stated so I don’t misrepresent anything).

As for now: I simply can’t wait to get home and away from the Florida sunshine! I have become and ‘official’ red neck after my time down at Bike Week, LOL!

It was really, really nice to hang out with the guys down there to shoot! I really wish I could have stayed longer and shot with them.

Hopefully that gives you some useful feedback on the Donny setup?

(Edit): Oh yeah, I am definitely going to order a BR stock for my RAW through Ken as well-those stocks ride the bags much nicer than my LRT. I can’t wait to order mine... (End Edit)

Sean

I like shooting the 357 and I can’t wait to shoot some steel with it And if you think the 357 is a big pellet you really need to shoot a 45 like the Texan and then you know you are shooting a big Airgun slug. When I get out to my range after the snow melts I know the 357 and 45 will get shot a lot but the 30 will also get a lot of pellets thru it, I’m in a hard spot with the snow melting away slowly being its just about to the point I can get to my range but then again we might get up to 3” more tonight and it just postpones my shooting a little bit longer and like I said before the lake target is getting real old and no fun to shoot, I need my steel but for now at least this lull in shooting gives me a chance to gather all my building tools and order nails for the nailers and get a plan of action for when I start building the 10x12 shed and 30x40 post building.
Im also going to be opening up more of my property for crossbow and shooting, going to rent a brush hog and cut some areas open so I can mow them and put in a few more shooting lanes and I also have to mark off the spot I’ll be putting the house and garage so I won’t be interfering with any of the shooting areas. Need to keep it safe..
