Raw Lrt moderator

AZ's shroud turned my .25 cal 60 fpe RAW into a backyard assassin...

Neal Clague's latest carbon fiber moderator also turned the 60 fpe RAW into a backyard killer...

STO, it's been a while since I've had a RAW but unless you can call the barrel support a baffle.... It's empty. At least mine was. Def helped but I wanted to fit a moderator to the barrel. Unfortunately, the CF sleeve on the barrel ended a few inches short of the muzzle and the barrel wasn't threaded. More than I wanted to tackle. Not that a barrel adapter and a longer CF sleeve to cover the whole barrel (including the existing bonded sleeve) would have been that tough to do. There were just other guns (for me) that shot as well and were already quieter. I might try another 'new' RAW next year.

Did you send your rifle to them or did you remove the offset moderator and carbon fiber on the barrel yourself ?

I requested AZ to machine an extra .25 lw polygon choked barrel for me w/ his shroud. AZ can make you a shroud w/o sending your rifle to him. Neal just asked me for the specs/measurements of my extra barrel so he can make his ldc...

The stock lrt raw .25 lw polygon barrel was not choked...& w/ the stock raw c/f offset moderator she was very loud...

Here are some pics of the not very effective lrt raw offset moderator I pressed out...

Here's a pic of some improvements to hopefully quiet the stock raw offset moderator still in the works...

I have a standard power RAW HM1000 in .22, with the standard centered moderator. It has some felt insulation in the body of the mod, plus around the air stripper, and it is effective. A friend recently bought a .22 HP RAW HM1000X, with the offset moderator. It is considerably louder than mine, but, it's more powerful too, so not a fair comparison. His has nothing inside, and with the top portion so close to the barrel, I'm not sure how much you could do. I have read that the length of the moderator is more important in sound suppression than the baffles or insulation.

I understand...

I've tried adding 2" of baffles & carbon fiber tube to the 60 fpe .25 cal RAW offset moderator...she is still loud.

Stock Raw offset c/f tube length: 10"

New Raw offset c/f tube length: 12"

Sorry for the thread revival.

I'm thinking about ordering a custom RAW. But I'm not sure how to handle the moderator.

Has anyone ordered one with no moderator, and then gone with something aftermarket? Did you receive the rifle with a threaded barrel? Or shrouded from factory? Or have sucess with a grub screw/threaded adapter? Pics?

Does anyone know if AZ is still around? Do you have contact info?

I don't have the knowledge to design my own, and I don't have access to machine tools (anymore, former machinist), to be able to make my own.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: AZ's contact info is on Vortek's website under USA Dealers....in case someone stumbles upon this.

I have a standard power RAW .22 with the older, centered moderator, it performs okay. If I were ordering a new one from Martin, I'd order a plain barrel and ask him to fabricate a simple, push-on adapter with 1/2 X 20 threads. I don't know the OD of the barrel, but there might be adapters already available in the correct size. I know Donny offers a few.
