RAW HM100x LRT - Bench Shooting

Hey guys,

Trying to narrow down the variables causing me inconsistency shooting at 100 yards from the bench. On a good day with little wind, I can get 7 of my 12 shot clip under an 1", but the other 5 create a group of 1.25" or bigger.

One clear red flag is my length of pull which is about 2" + too long. I'm only 5' 8" and don't have really long arms. LOP has never been a problem with my Weihrauch Springers (also have 1" to 2" too long LOP), but I've never shot them at > 80 yards (seldom @ 80). So the distance is magnifying any problems seen a shorter distances (I think) which doesn't help.

Fundamentally, how much of a problems is this? I really don't want to cut the stock.

I believe I'm trying to shoot the RAW at 100 Yards with the same approach as before, but have too many minor inconsistency's which add up to create inaccuracy. The wind is obviously another factor I need to understand better.

I've only been shooting at 100 yards for a few months, but believe my gun is way more accurate than me ...

Kirk, I believe you already figured out your issue! LOP can create issues with how high or low your elbow should be....the higher the elbow the more inconsistent holds you will have including fatigue. You ideally want your elbow low and tucked close to your body. When you have a more compact hold (no flying elbow) you'll be abke to replicate that hold way more consistently. Also,a vertical grip will also help bring your elbow down and your RAW's stock already has an almost vertical grip. Many AR shooters recognize this and why more companies are offering vertical grips. Being your LOP is too long, you have to raise your elbow to get your finger on the trigger. Remove the buttpad and see how much lower and tucked you can get your elbow. You might just want to purchase another rubber buttpad and sand it down considerably it that is the case.

If you are BR shooting, do you really want to be crawling all over the rifle? Most shooters try to keep most, if not all, body contact to a minimum.

Hey jps, so you're saying I've got bigger fish to fry than worry about my LOP since this isn't a powder burner? Hence, figure out the most consistent gun weld/hold and stick with it?

I was thinking sight picture/trigger pull consistency may suffer ...

How light do you have your trigger ? Mine is really light probably 1/2 a pound just enough so I can touch the trigger without it going off but your lop can throw off alot to . I know for me heavier trigger pull weight throws me off

I haven't adjusted mine from it's factory setting - it's pretty darn light. If anything, I accidentally fire because its too light...., but I'm fine where it's at.
